It doesn't matter now that she has already had these items returned to the HOC from the HOL.
As usual with May, it's too little, and too late. She's hanging on by a thread.
At every Brexit turn, May has done her best to avoid parliamentary democratic accountability.

It's an aspect of our Parliamentary democracy.
It's an aspect that is either 'a bunch of unelected, unaccountable toffs' or 'a vital part of the democratic process' depending on whether it's blocking something you want or something you don't want. (Not you personally. 'One' just sounds a bit poncey).
What’s remarkable though is that The Telegraph and the DM are calling for the destruction of the HoL (along with calling judges “Enemies if the people” and threatening to publish their home addresses). Neither paper does socialism but they are doing something resembling national socialism. It's an aspect that is either 'a bunch of unelected, unaccountable toffs' or 'a vital part of the democratic process' depending on whether it's blocking something you want or something you don't want. Those who advocate abolition of the Lords would do us a service if they explained what they planned to replace it with, and how we the electorate would get our say.I'm in favour of abolishing the HOL. However, for good or ill, it exists and is part of our parliamentary democracy. You can't just ignore it and May is trying to play it.
It is possible to both want the PM to respect current parliament while also wanting to change it.

At the very least we need a robust system of PR to elect at least one of the Houses, having both chambers subject to FPTP would be just a recipe for party political deadlock and sclerosis.
It is possible to both want the PM to respect current parliament while also wanting to change it. She's just pi%%ed because the Tories don't have a majority for once.

I advocate random selection of the adult population for HoL membership, as is done with jury service. That would eliminate both political bias and self-serving opportunists.

Have you ever served on a jury?
It would also ensure that at least 75% were complete ***kwits, admittedly that may still be an improvement.
D’yer not think Betty Boothroyd had the common touch like?I advocate random selection of the adult population for HoL membership, as is done with jury service. That would eliminate both political bias and self-serving opportunists.
