went for quick 30 mile spin. Different driving to the 991 steering is way sharper, more eager under acceleration.

Interior is way better put together- but better insulation means you hear less of the engine and exhaust. With the roof down you can hear it all loud and clear.

Interesting you mention the better steering compared to 991.

Is it down to suspension on progression in the EPS system?

Lovely car GT, I must say though I think the Targa looks fantastic, I see one regularly outside a clients building, look even better in the flesh.

Cheers BB

Very nice, prefer it to the Targa if I'm honest. Can't imagine driving one of them every day.

My wife preferred the Targa, I prefer the 992. It is great as an everyday driver, you can pootle along or send it mad.....

The interior is very different to all the other Porsche's I've had. Previously despite different generations and vehicles, the interior layout was familiar even with progressive upgrades and changes. This is a step change - buttons in different places..different means of actuating functions, push buttons instead of rotary switch...etc.....

Thank you - the Targa is a "classic" shape, whenever I look at it in my garage it made me smile ......it is gorgeous in the flesh, but it doesn't offer the full convertible experience....

build quality of the 992 is way better

What you got your eye on, something other than Porsche?

we did have a short list of others - but......end of lease pay back from the dealer on the 911 means a straightforward ex demo MY23 Macan with 2k miles on the clock - is well within the retirement plan budget.

We had a look round over a few months and ended up with just the Macan left on our shortlist, late last year we stayed in Edinburgh and headed to Porsche to check seats, trim etc. in person before placing an order, Maserati is opposite the dealership, wife had a test drive and a Grecale arrived a couple weeks ago, she loves it, Sonus Faber sound system is right up there, very nice interior on a par with the Macan I’d say, I’ve not driven it yet :)

Just to feel like one of the gang, I recently bought a 2012 991.1 Carrera S (it was a cheaper mid-life crisis than running off with a 20-year old pole dancer). I had gone to look at a Macan diesel but it called to me.

Have to say I am super impressed so far - 400 BHP, every drive is a hoot and surprisingly reasonable cost (for me) to run: 30+ mpg and insurance not hugely more than the 530d.

It probably won't stay on the drive for long (itch scratched and all that) and a Macan may be the logical next step for something more practical.

no - i dont want anything mad fast anymore, i want a cruiser - bog standard Macan 2.0 with some comfort extras. Colour is Crayon, which is the fav of my wife, and given she pays for it.........

Out of interest, why did you go for the 2.0T and not a 3.0 'S' - I can't imagine cost of ownership would be much different?

Good time to change?

Some of the used car prices look very good for 911s.

If you're careful you could now achieve a retirement friendly 30mpg.

The more i drive the Macan the more i like it, off to the south of France in ten days.

£10k difference for an S. insurance is more - and i am heading to retirement, so the monthly needs to get inside the allowance my mrs gets.

I do like Crayon as well. I think you might be right on that model. The Macan 2.0T is a good looking smallish SUV and the price pretty keen for the badge. I will retire in a couple of years and could see myself in something similar.

My OH is thinking about one too. She's had a Maserati before but now prefers that one.
