Way to go Greta

so today Extinction rebellion will be out trying to spread their message , heres from their page

Join our first No Going Back action this Thursday. Close down the biggest polluters, hang up posters over the doors of the most polluting businesses to make clear that they cannot reopen for business as usual, if we want to rebuild a better world.

not very helpful to business`s already reeling !!!

Or to the NHS.

Part of the problem with disposing of PPE is the lack of joined up thinking.
Something useful can be done with this stuff.
Get some bright minds on the case and we can have an answer.

There is a fortune to be mad. Be paid to take it away, turn it into X and then sell that

Going back up the food chain to the materials PPE is made of, with an eye on reuse or recycle and new ball game

Well not too much publicity for extinction rebellions day of action , no going back , they chained themselves to the railings at a factory near here , not keeping to social distancing!!! Had to be cut free by fire brigade. Not good publicity to help to spread covid 19 with their protests!

What factory was it? What were their reasons for highlighting it? Do you have a news report from a credible source?
Meanwhile...go Greta

Please... the girl is deluded megalomaniac of the highest order.... the movement stands for nothing and so far has so only created spikes in the global carbon index.
In last years XR protests they cost the tax payers millions of pounds in police force action, security, waste, vandalising private property, destruction of public realm and property, and litter.

And then there's the whole issue of the root cause of the climate change... the use of transport and fuels. 1000's of armed forces, 100's of helicopters, vans, cars and motorbikes have to be deployed, they don't travel on winged back unicorns you know.

The movement is literally pissing in the wind... and anyone who says you have to break a few eggs to make an omelette needs to get a new hymn sheet.

No sign here. I'm a major polluter and half expected a visit.

We weren't unnoticeable; the aroma of chicken litter being spread on maize land carries far and wide.

rotesters from Extinction Rebellion (XR) have taken to the streets targeting several Cambridge businesses with spray paint.

The environmental protest group said demonstrators - known as ‘Rebels’ - used their daily exercise to target ‘polluting industries’ across the city yesterday (Thursday April 30).
The demonstration was part of a wider national campaign called ‘No Looking Back,’ which saw protesters calling on governments to refuse to bail out polluting industries during the coronavirus crisis.

A key target was Schlumberger, a company XR Cambridge has staged a number of protests against in the past.

Given the clock is running down.

What do you propose we do to avert the coming catastrophe?

Tick tock

Not make it worse, that would be a good start........

Do you honestly think anything will change via protests?!

real change is coming if not yet quite resolved in the form of electric transport, which is still being held back but the petroleum, gas companies and levy /taxes.

What is required from this tech is self-charging electric transport, this will change the world forever not a fcuking sticker and a few chains and padlocking (again, landfill and paper waste.... )

Semi seriously...
What's the point of peaceful protest? It achieves nothing. The middle classes and Mail readers can feel reassured by it (oh what kind gentle people they all are...let's forget all about it in 3 seconds more), governments can be reassured that few resources are needed to 'deal with' it and, similarly, ignore it, and the target is unthreatened and, having a proven track record of not giving a shit, can similarly go right on doing damage.

I like peace, don't get me wrong, but the human race is way too thick not to be manipulated by the rich, the greedy, and the powerful.
Revolution, large scale and violent is the only way. It won't happen tho because it's too late. Those in charge (the lizards) have already achieved their goal of dulling and pacifying the worlds masses. It's 'Brave New World' innit.

But I do think protests need to be heard, seen, and now recorded, and shared as they do harm and damage. We have understood this for hundreds of years. The French and Russian revolutions may not have been quite the same if nice friendly chats over a cup of tea had been the order of the day.
We are in need of a very large kick in the ass on climate change; the alternative is to risk being the generation who knew, but thought, 'nah, I'm ok, still get to run my car and eat my BBQ. Let someone else deal with it'. I wonder what our grandkids would have said to us if they could meet us in a hundred years time after we had gone over the tipping point? "It'll be ok tho Grandad, the government have promised there'll be room on the mars shuttle for everyone, even tho the government (and their friends and, and) are going first....with all the food, and guns. We read in the papers that you can grow soya on mars in a plastic sealed tunnel and we get our own plastic tent. We'll be fine". "Nature? No. We asked if we could take a pet but there's not enough air so. Maybe rocks can be pets?"

Sounds good to me. We have viable electric designs now, why are car plants still making IC?
Presumably not an electric car plant?
Do you think there would have been an action there had there been?
And where's credible source for them breaking social distancing recommendations?
Or were those breaking regs not from ER?

FACT: the use of transport and fuels. 1000's of armed forces, 100's of helicopters (forces and media), vans, cars and motorbikes have to be deployed at every XR demo, they don't travel on winged back unicorns you know.

Sounds good to me. We have viable electric designs now, why are car plants still making IC?

There is a host of reasons around product design cycles / timescales in the automotive industry and enduring questions about availability of rare metals in the future but the main one is economic. There's neither the infrastructure nor capacity to support a country where all vehicles are all electric and consumers are not going to buy a vehicle they can't be guaranteed an opportunity to charge 2-3 times more in the week than a single, guaranteed fill up at a filling station. Until that's resolved, EVs aren't going to sell as well as IC or IC / hybrid.
