Brexit next week: give me a positive effect it will have on my daily life

My investments are diversified across the World and I have done very well thank you and so will anyone who is investing for their retirement. The recent 'bump' meant an 11.5% growth for me over the past 12 months and thats a good 10% above CPI(H) inflation. There has been a distinct jump in market value recently due to the certainty of Brexit. Wages are already rising faster than inflation so a feel good factor will be on its way. Once we have left the EU business will release their stockpiled cash and invest for the future. Although the road ahead will be bumpy it'll be a win win win for the UK.

Cheers,

DV
How will us being out of the EU be any different to us being out of the EU before we joined?
When we were on our arse, let me remind you.

I think globalisation, complexity of business models, inter/intracontinental shared regulatory co-operation and integration of IT systems supporting business may have changed since the 70's.

But we're getting side-tracked here. Simple clear benefits to day to day life people.

Well it's obvious innit!

All them immigrants will leave. That's wot leave means innit?

An then we can have all them jobs back wot we didn't want anyway so we can all refuse to work on farms or in care work an' stuff.

An' we can all ave a pay rise off all that money wot we paid in taxes and gave to the EU.. or well we would have if we'd had jobs an' bin payin' tax..
I can't wait..me..

Ok, obviously not being part of a failed and moribund experiment to create a giant European Superstate is the biggest benefit. A European superstate which is wasteful (they spend nearly £200 million every year on moving the whole shebang from Brussels to Strasbourg for one week every month, then back again), protectionist, restrictive, doesn't produce anything yet bleeds it's member states dry and has bankrupted several - including Greece, Spain, Italy and Ireland. Not being dictated to by unelected bureaucrats who we can't get rid of HAS to be a good thing doesn't it? As does NOT having a bankrupt nation.

It will mean that the UK is free to do trade deals with other nations. This in turn will reduce food and clothing (among other things) prices as, anything imported under a trade deal won't be subject to EU tariffs.

Also, as VAT was introduced to pay for the UK's EU membership, they could, theoretically, get rid of it and make goods cheaper for everyone, they won't though. They could and should then invest the VAT money into the NHS, roads, infrastructure projects and more. Having more money available to invest in the UK, and being able to choose where it is spent can also only be a good things (The EU takes money from the UK, give and gives us back less than half, certainly no more - various sources I have read tell me that for every pound we send the EU, we get between 33p and 50p back. So we don't more than half of what we give them).

Perhaps people like being in an exact replica of the other failed attempt to create a giant superstate, the USSR. I know I don't, along with the majority of people in this country. The EU will have collapsed within five years - it is pretty much bankrupt now (one quote I heard was "If it was a business, it would have closed within three years"). These constructs last about 65-70 years - the USSR existed for 69 years. The EU is heading for that, if you assume it was formed as the EEC with the Treaty of Rome in 1957. I make that 63 years this year.

There is no benefit or sensible argument for being in the EU at all. I have yet to EVER hear one, and I am amazed that any sane or sensible could ever think it was a good idea. It's imminent demise cannot happen soon enough.

Brexit is a massive opportunity for the UK. The EU are scared witless that the UK will make a success of it, and want to make it as difficult as they can for us.

Among the garbage in that post the tax one is a belter!
utter rubbish about VAT.
It replaced Purchase Tax that had existed from 1940 - 1973.
Purchase tax at abolition was 25%
VAT on introduction the same day was 10%.

This just about sums up what a clusterfuck Brexit is (Look carefully at the blue 'passport'):

Fewer discussions about Brexit.

At the very least we can stop arguing about whether we should remain. Perhaps we will just change to arguing about whether we should rejoin, but the signs are that interest in that is waning.

I wonder if Aldi and Lidl have started packing their bags yet?

Not much chance of price cutting after Feb 1st ;)

I see that the pound sterling is rising, so I won’t be buying as much British stuff.
That’s an effect, isn’t it?

According to the Daily Mail reader I met in the hospital waiting room, the traffic jam I got stuck in was entirely down to immigrants who come to our country, claim benefits, and (from my observation of the cars in the jam...) buy BMW SUVs. He also was amazed that I felt a second referendum was a good idea, as if we want to know what the public think, we only have to read the newspapers. We would have our sovereignty (I said I already had one, and it's in the loft) - then he was remarkably nice to the Bulgarian specialist nurse (who was my special friend as she told me that excess alcohol consumption was not considered a heath risk in her home country).

So, traffic will be easier. QED.

They needn't worry, Boris is in charge... it'll me a monumental failure :D
