Another from the Jazz Critics list via Qobuz and in the top 5 of Richard Williams' Blue Moment list -

This deserves more than a dip in - it's interesting, complex music drawing on a wide range of influences ( the leader is Iraqi American and draws equally on the heritage of both).

I've had a listen to the Bill Charlap trio which is nice but a bit lounge jazz in places and made me feel I was waiting for my pasta to arrive.

I quite liked this piano trio so I took a punt on the vinyl that is supposed to a very good mastering. Arriving tomorrow.

This is out of this world for the time, it sounds like runny mascara and sticky up hair, moody glances on the dance floor.

1979 !! crikey

edit: it sounds immense

We were at A Love From Outer Space (Andrew Weatherall and Sean Johnson’s club night) a few years back, and were wandering back to the front room at about 4am, just as that got dropped - the place went crazy. I’d not heard it in a club since the early 80s - it still sounded, as you say, immense.
