The pfm Lego Investment Challenge

Creator Expert series, Star Wars especially UCS and some cars.
I'd add Speed Champions (especially the singles), Architecture, and Ideas. The Creator Expert series which adds a new set annually are very collectable. I'm collecting the Modular Buildings, Winter Village, and Fairground sets.

I've started the build of the Lego Titanic. The detail and scale are stunning. I'm going to savour the build over three weeks that I'm not at work. Even though it is an expensive set, I think it's worth the money. Easily on par with the Saturn V in terms of VFM. I'd buy another to keep as MISB.

I’ve gone mad and bought the Technic LandRover and the R2-D2.

Must stop now.
The Landrover is a fantastic set. But this is what you really want ...

The detail is amazing.

I'm relishing the build over three weeks. Now 2/3rd complete, and dwarfing the CD shelf.

This was a set I simply could not resist buying and building. Must get another for MISB investment ...

£550. Wow.
Except for the world map (for which I fail to see the point) it is Lego's largest set at 9,900 pieces. It is certainly the longest at 1.35m. I think it is better value than the Star Wars UCS sets such as the Millennium Falcon and recently released AT-AT, both of which are more expensive. In terms of VFM, I think it's right up there with the Saturn V rocket.

Got the Porsche for xmas but I'm more of a Lambo man, so I turned it into this instead....

I've just bought a second 911 to do this build. I also have the Lambo sticker set on the way from the US for it...

I still want the Chiron but I'm waiting as I think it'll come down in price again at some stage.

@Tony L - if you want to free up some space I'd be interested to know what you have and what you'd be looking for. At least selling to members here you should be less likely to experience some of the ebay dickery that unfortunately often occurs...

@Whaleblue - the other thing to do if you can is jump on the 'freebies' that often come with kits on release date; I picked up the 911 within minutes of it hitting the Lego site and got the Porsche VIP pack (5006655) free - currently fetching around £50-60 on ebay. I also managed to bag one of the VIP members' Lego Ulysses Space Probe sets (5006744) free, currently fetching around £70-80. I've not sold them as I'm not a speculator but if you were looking to do well then taking advantage of the limited or rare freebies is easy money...

Is the Lambo MOC parts list entirely derived from the 911 set, or do you need to source additional bricks? Are the build instructions published anywhere?

Entirely uses only the 911 kit (which is damn impressive as the Lambo really does look superbly true to life). Instructions are $15 on Rebrickable: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-82416/firas_legocars/10295-lamborghini-countach/#details

Link to stickers is on that page too (I think it was about $10): https://www.okbrickworks.com/shop/vinyl-decals/lego-moc-decals/bricksgarage-lamborghini-countach/

The only thing I might do is purchase the components for the rear wing in white which shouldn't be too costly and I think will look better. Haven't decided yet, will see how it looks once built. :)

I also wish I hadn't seen your Titanic post, I'd managed to talk myself out of that one...

That Titanic is epic in every way. Would love to build it but just don't have the space to display it.

An Ikea Billy bookcase is my limit. Even the little Harley Fat Boy looks big in one of those....

I’d be tempted to offload some of the Star Wars and some other big sets. I’d be looking to make a profit obviously, so I’d pretty much be asking market value.

Ones that come to mind are:

75095 Star Wars TIE Fighter™
75060 Star Wars Slave I™
75156 Star Wars Rogue One Krennic's Imperial Shuttle
75150 Vader’s TIE Advanced vs. A-Wing Starfighter
75140 Resistance Troop Transporter
76052 Batman™ Classic TV Series
10251 Creator Brick Bank
10243 Creator Parisian Restaurant

40320 Volvo L340F Wheel Loader (built, but I still have the box, manual etc).

That basically leaves me with the stuff that actually interests me (NASA and a few other bits ‘n’ bobs). I’ve just never been a Star Wars fan!
