Avoiding Stress, at Every Opportunity
They are human, however
As a motorcyclist, England is the country I feel least safe in. As a driver, not so.Inattention can happen; i had a white van pull out when cruising in my first Alfa, fantastic straight emergency stop with a trail of two curling lines of blue smoke.
The next one was nearly totalled by a sleeping lorry driver.
French drivers i've seen seem to be more into using mirrors and signalling.

Spain, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Italy, Crete.Have you ridden in many countries?
I would not even cycle here.As a motorcyclist, England is the country I feel least safe in. As a driver, not so.

No thanks. So only in Europe. You might want to try the Middle East, just for starters.
Sweden, UK and Holland is usually the best in road safety (in the EU) meassured in deaths per million habitants. In 2017: 25, 28, 31. It varies a bit from year to year. Comparable countries, like Finland: 42, France: 51, Germany 39 (with free speed on the AB!).
If individuals feel that from their experience, then you are in no position to deny that. But, some on this forum like to ignore the facts and just say that they feel much less safe on Britain’s roads, or some other rubbish.

The problem is that there enough of them suffering from that delusion ( thank you Dunning-Kruger). Within a day or two of each other last week in Edinburgh, a white van took out an ITU volunteer nurse cycling and killed him and a 90 year old (it later turned out) mounted the pavement killing a three year old and injuring his mother- the ambulance passed me doing about 50mph in a tiny lane I was cycling through, about 200 yards from the scene and it was only later I found out the reason. Every day I see breathtakingly stupid/ dangerous driving in 20/30mph zones.Wouldn't it be nice if everyone breaking the speed limit was "a really good driver on a fast well maintained vehicle"? Sadly, they aren't.
I do feel less safe too. Make a small mistake or do something unexpected like an emergency stop or a late indicate and expect road rage from the nearest car. There are a lot of coiled springs driving about their business in UK, seemingly looking for a fight. But, some on this forum like to ignore the facts and just say that they feel much less safe on Britain’s roads, or some other rubbish.
