@Joe P - I like them all, but the pic of old varnish is incredible!
Not least for the colour and line, reminiscent of, oh, several Modern artists; but the simple underlying beautiful study of UV vs shellac and timber and Time.
It was *just* visible with the naked eye, so a long exposure was necessary to get it to show up at all.
If you look closely you can see two tails. The lower, broad one is the comet’s dust tail. The much fainter, slightly blue one pointing almost straight up is the comet’s ion tail.
Our first time back at Belton House since Christmas - one of our favourite local places (and the coffee's good too). I don't tend to use it much, but took the D700 out for an airing today - it's not the most subtle of devices (ie it's big/loud/very heavy) but still delivers.
