  1. Things you need to know about the new ‘Conversations’ PM system:

    a) DO NOT REPLY TO THE NOTIFICATION EMAIL! I get them, not the intended recipient. I get a lot of them and I do not want them! It is just a notification, log into the site and reply from there.

    b) To delete old conversations use the ‘Leave conversation’ option. This is just delete by another name.

    Not my photo.

‘My’ lighthouse on Orford Ness is no more. This was all that remained a couple of days ago, just a pile of bricks on the ground now.

    And last September

@Joe P - I like them all, but the pic of old varnish is incredible!
Not least for the colour and line, reminiscent of, oh, several Modern artists; but the simple underlying beautiful study of UV vs shellac and timber and Time.

    Lovely.

    Thanks, Martin.

It reminded be a bit of Norval Morrisseau's paintings. He was an Anishinaabe Aboriginal Canadian artist.

Comet Neowise .... seen once every 6,766 years.

It was *just* visible with the naked eye, so a long exposure was necessary to get it to show up at all.

If you look closely you can see two tails. The lower, broad one is the comet’s dust tail. The much fainter, slightly blue one pointing almost straight up is the comet’s ion tail.

The view from the ISS was a bit better.

Our first time back at Belton House since Christmas - one of our favourite local places (and the coffee's good too). I don't tend to use it much, but took the D700 out for an airing today - it's not the most subtle of devices (ie it's big/loud/very heavy) but still delivers.
