Linn Ittok LV II for sale by auction

Up for auction is my Ittok LV II. After many years stirling service I finally bit the bullet and replaced it with an Ekos SE. EBay item number 144187127057

Linn Ekos SE/1 fitted to Kore DIY

I haven't changed the bearing, only the tonearm. Still doesn't make sense unless I suppose it's a subtle change in geometry, tracking weight, bias etc. Maybe I've accidentally hit a sweet spot :)

Linn Ekos SE/1 fitted to Kore DIY

Does anyone know who makes the Karousel bearing? Is it SME? I know they make the Keel. It would make sense to use the same supplier and I can't think of a engineering firm more suitable.

Linn Ekos SE/1 fitted to Kore DIY

Sorry me again... One of the biggest improvements is a huge reduction in surface noise. Can't work out why this would be, but happy anyway. Any corroboration or theories would be interesting

Linn Ekos SE/1 fitted to Kore DIY

Interesting comments about Kore. It seems as though the Keel is last on the list of improvements available to the LP12 as the Kore is actually pretty good. The Radikal however seems universally praised. This would tie in with my dealers opinion. I intend to get the Karousel with Radikal sometime...

Linn Ekos SE/1 fitted to Kore DIY

Yes it it is big improvement. I spent a few hours trying to pinpoint the areas where it sounded better and in the end I had ticked every box. But a few areas are outstanding. A more detailed and tuneful bass, greater separation of instruments in the soundstage and better dynamics are the...

Linn Ekos SE/1 fitted to Kore DIY

I have just replaced my Ittock LVII on my Akurate level LP12 with a 2nd hand Ekos SE/1. It seemed to be a pretty straightforward procedure. I was told the tricky part was the arm cable, but as I already had a fairly new T-Kable I didn't have to move it at all. I weighed the Ittock and Ekos and...

    nDac Software Upgrade

Just like to add my vote to the none too subtle improvement in sq that the latest firmware has wrought to my ndac. Free, easy and effective. What's not to like?

    Olive Naim system

I had 72/140 for a little while, traded it in for 82/250/hi cap. I felt it was a big jump well worth the extra dosh ( bought it new). A couple of years ago I sold the hi cap and bought a Teddy Dual Cap. I was really pleased with the improvement, it seemed to add clarity and focus. Having said...

    80s lp12/Ittok vs new rega rp6

I can see the engineering superiority of the lp12 but the Ittok looks very crude compared to the latest Rega arms. The arm tube is screwed on with self tappers for goodness sake.

    80s lp12/Ittok vs new rega rp6

I started a thread about a new cartridge for my late 80s lp12/Ittok. However a friend of mine sowed a seed of doubt. Why not sell the old girl and buy something fresh and up to date such as a Rega RP6. I wondered how they compare.

    New cartridge advice please

OC9 is up to mkIII version which I believe is actually less sophisticated than mkII but has a somewhat less 'explicit' treble. MKIIIs are available direct from Japan via a well known auction site for around £360. I could stretch to that but from what I am reading a dynavector 10x5 is very...

    New cartridge advice please

Bought a new belt and some oil for the bearing recently in preparation for its return from its box under the bed!
