The Verdi Requiem is pretty profane as far as sacred music goes!We frequently knock BBC R3 in general and Record Review in particular, so worth mentioning that this morning I enjoyed this enough to order it straight away:

(And apart from the Verdi Requiem I haven't been a fan of sacred music, until now.)
Abbado, BPO, Pletnev: Beethoven Piano Concerto 2, Symphony 9. A TDK DVD from 2000, the performances are wonderful but so is the SQ. Far better than the sound on Berlin Philharmonic Digital Concert Hall streaming, though I’ve yet to go in during a live broadcast. Pletnev is one of my favourite pianists, his Beethoven in particular.
If you didn't know, there is no way you would identify the first piece as Lehar.
