Am giving serious thought to giving one of Noteworthy Audio's modded DL103's a try at the moment. :)

I find just a music system far too limiting so have a 32" Panasonic LCD TV, a customised Apple TV with Jaman installed and a 250 HD, plus hacked USB socket for an additional HD, I have a Mac Mini with 320 Gig HD, 2 Gig of Ram as well as Quicktime Pro and VLC, I have a 500 Gig La Cie on the Network, A Mackbook Pro with extra Ram and 320 Gig HD and I have a Touch.

In my sitting room I have just an Airport Express and another Hi Fi system. There's even a stinking old Dell on the network but I get into it from and Apple Computers rather than use it.

I use all this to stream music, watch Youtube, videos, rent Movies, play my music, stream old Movies or download them, display my photographs or others from Flikr or whatever and I can use the computer functions on the TV screen via a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.

I couldn't go back to just a music system now, for me this is so much more fun.

PC/Frontend: Windows XP PC running MediaPortal (machine out of the listening room)
Display(s): 15" monitor for choosing music, BenQ PE8700 projector for everything else
Soundcard: RME HDSP9632, external clock used for music
DAC (music): Cambridge Audio IsoMagic with clock out to above soundcard
Preamp/Processor: TAG AV32R, used in bypass mode as a volume control for music
Power Amp: Hypex UCD400AD monoblocks for L+R, TAG 100x5R for centre and rears
Speakers: PMC AB2 (L+R)
PMC LB1 Signature Centre
KEF Ci400 (eggs) as rears

Medium Term:
Build a 3 channel class-d amp to replace the TAG 100x5R for centre and rears, sell the TAG.
Currently building a dedicated multi-tuner TV server (using the new version of MediaPortal ) and a gigabit ethernet network.

Longer Term:
Maybe try the Twisted Pear Buffalo DAC.
Re-visit the analogue outputs on the HDSP9632 with current hardware. If it keeps up with the Cambridge then possibly by an expansion card and move to a pre-amp less PC->Power Amp setup as the PMCs are weighty enough to run without a sub.

Agree with Ash's comment that music-only is too limiting, if you've got great amps and speakers then it's a shame not to use them for films, tv etc.

I am currently using:

Cyrus 7 DAD3 Q24 cd player

Nac 72 with avondale 821 audiophile boards in and individual power to each board

Nap 250 Chrome Bumper

Avondale APXII

Linn Ninkas Speakers

Avondale Black Link Speaker Cable

Interconnects from Zanash which i am currently borrowing to find which one is best suited.

Future plans to have the 250 Avondaled and maybe look at going Active

Regards
Chris

Yes, Horns and open baffle 12"ers and a subwoofer. Is this bloke barking? errrr....Yes, probably. In actual fact you don't need much volume at all to get a realistic "being there" effect.

Amps are LM3875 Gainclones and Pedja Rogic buffers sitting on top of the horns. CD transport is the DIY Shigaclone (see Diyaudio) into the "cheapo Chinese DAC" (see Art of Sound forum) and Elektor kit 96kHz up-sampler.

Arriving this week - Yaqin MS 6v6 amplifier, Chord and Ixos interconnects, Profigold bi-wire speaker cable, CA Digi interconnect (for future use). Arriving next week - Pioneer DV380 (sourced for someone else, but I'm gonna play with it!), and FINALLY some Deltec Black 16 bi-wire cables.

Waiting to hear about some Linn Isobariks to partner the Yaqin, hopefully.

Can I come and play at your house, Puffin? :D
