Years ago, I attended a Barney Kessel masterclass, and the conversation somehow got around to Sacha Distel, who Kessel rated quite highly as a musician. All we tended to see of him in the UK were MoR TV specials, and as Kessel put it - "All that (makes kissy kissy gestures) "Ah, Mon Cheri" lovey dovey stuff - it's all an act."

One of the great cool jazz records in my opinion - anything with Barney Wilen is ok by me...

I must try and hear that one. I have a host of Modern Jazz Quartet LPs (w. John Lewis) inherited from my Dad's collection ...

EDIT - Golly Gee, that one is 'in demand' judging by Discogs prices....
