Vast Brexit thread merge part VI

Really? Too many of them will like that. It would give the Parrys of this world 'wood'.
Ha! or Norman Tebbit on viagra.

It utterly perplexes me to see obviously not well off people in places like Stoke or Sunderland still saying they ‘want to get Brexit done and move on’. How can they not realise what this government has planned for them?

Regarding Brexit, Poppy Day Death Cults and English Nazis biding their time until the day after Brexit happens, I keep thinking about this photo a lot

Who are we looking at there, and what relevance does whoever he is have to anything much?

Because they are thick and racist.

Jack

So people from Stoke and Sunderland are thick and racist.

Jack,
Go to Stoke or Sunderland, get onto a box in the town and for 60 minutes or so shout out: "Leave voters are all thick racists". Let me know when and where and I'll be there to film the <1 minute before you run off having crapped yourself. I'll put it on YT and post a link in the forum. I expect you’ll gain much fame.

Interesting article.

Does any one here think that it is a good piece, and one with which they feel inclined to agree?

Do those same people think that it is a good advertisment for the European Union?
3 hours and total silence from the hard-remainers.

Yes, it’s an interesting article.

Perhaps not all, nor exclusively Stoke or Sunderland, but I think you have to be pretty thick if you are not well off, but still vote for something which is acknowledged to be against the interests of people in exactly those circumstances. And it’s also a reasonable assumption that one factor which motivated many of them, is an antipathy to foreigners.

You have officially hit rock bottom Brian if EV likes your post :)
I read the article well most of it. Not sure what relevance it has to the EU. Neoliberalism is moving on from having fooled the EU et all to now coming up with the notion of Singapores in various continents around the world. It is a given that 'socialists' will always be behind the curve against the neoliberals imho. Sincerely hold the view the EU in as far as any state institution tries to look after its population has gone further than any other continent. Probably not as successful as Sweden or Norway but special circumstances are at play there and it is much easier to do what they are doing on a smaller scale. Also having lots of oil and retaining ownership within the state is a bit of an advantage. If only Scotland had done the same.

Soziecakes it was over 3hrs but I was busy on normal life duties

Not unsurprisingly I agree with Stiglitz. I don't think it has much to say about that EU unless you are one of those who think it's all a Neoliberal plot rather than boring old European social democracy.

I'd also suggest it says more about people who are against neoliberal economics but also somehow voted to Leave because nothing will get you a bigger, harder dose of neoliberalism than voting for one of the various Brexit options.

I didn't reply initially because your point seemed self-evidently asinine and my forehead is still a bit raw from all my recent *facepalming*.

Not at all. There are a few members who, if any liked a post of mine would make me wonder if I had lost all common sense. ET is not on that list.

Good to see some replies to the link from gavreid in the end.
