The 2023 Formula One Season

Any thoughts on Felipe Massa's forthcoming attempt to change the result of the 2008 title? It appears that, according to Bernie Ecclestone, it was known by officialdom at the time that Piquet deliberately crashed in Singapore to allow Alonso to win. Massa's legal team is hoping that Hamilton, respected for fairness, will assist the Massa case (Ferrari has said that they will not participate).

At the risk of triggering something, HAM will agree when VER agrees that 2021 was unfair and give up that title to HAM, then maybe Mike Hawthorn's descendants can agree that Stirling deserved a title, then MSC can give up 1994 title to Damon and I am sure we can come up with a few more.

I think that Hawthorn himself thought that Moss deserved the title, and acknowledged that he got it only because of Moss's amazing sportsmanship in arguing that Hawthorn's push-start had taken place off the racetrack and that disqualification was not merited.

The cost of rebuilding it no matter what the damage is a lot less than the car’s value. It’s a no brainer.

I have a client who rebuilds and runs classic racing cars. He has just acquired a new block for a 250… Ferrari don’t supply them and are pretty clueless so he has to have it designed and made at a specialist. £45K… but compared to the car’s value… not a lot.
If I owned and raced a car like that, or in fact anything seriously historic, I would probably have more than one engine with the most original being safely tucked away. Perhaps the same for gearbox/diff and any other lifed 'bolt on' parts.

Can Verstappen recover to continue his winning streak? I have my doubts, but stranger things have happened (my countryman John Watson once won from 22nd on the grid).

I’ve been told that a team not sending a representative is extremely unusual.

People here might know more about the rules but it seems that the Race Director considers something is amiss and asks the Stewards to sort it. If the Race Directors concern is about one driver only i.e. Verstappen, why would the other team want to attend?

If it was a toss up between which of 2 drivers were to blame then obviously both would be represented.

I suppose they have nothing to gain from a Max grid penalty, and no evidence to add, the impeding was obvious.

Not sure why Max just got reprimands and the team fines though.

Because the team put their hands up and took responsibility for not informing him that another car was fast approaching?

It's all OK as VER got 2 tellings off, for three incidents that will have a big impact on him I am sure.
