Not in my experience - I have a suspended floor and the 1200G deals with it better than any previous turntable I have owned.

I agree. My GAE copes remarkably well with footfall in my 50s house with suspended floors.

I believe a very similar Technics design coped with footfall quite well in many night clubs for decades also!!

Audio Technica VM 540ML or Ortofon 2M Bronze or Nag MP500 as starters. Most MM carts with a Microline stylus profile should work but AT and Ortofon would work well with the Technics arm.

I heard a Rega Exact on a Rega P25 years ago. I couldn’t vouch for the condition of the cartridge at the time, but I don’t remember being impressed. Sounded muddled and shut in. My AT540ML does not on my Technics 1210GR, sounds really clear and open, highly recommended.

I too had a 540ML on my 1200G - well, it was the 540ML/H, the plug-in headshell version. Only got the AT as a short to mid-term stop-gap during lockdown but never found a need to upgrade it. Impressive combination.
