I'm lucky to have both here, a decent Integrated ( Plinius Hiato , which replaced a Yamaha A-S3000) and a Pre/Power combo (MBL Noble 5011 pre/ Krell FPB600 Power)
The Integrated used to be the "daily ride" , and plumbed the TV/BluRay player in, with the P/P separates the weekend treat.
I've recently tried the Pre out on the Plinius into the Krell, and like it a lot , so the MBL is being sold.
But I'm finding I'm firing up the P/P combo less, and using the Plinius as an integated more often.
The Plinius also has a craking phono stage, so I've sold my TRON Convergance too.
Don't think I'd have gone down that route with the Yamaha , so it's really about the amp, how it works with your speakers, and your room.
But a good integrated for me, can match or better a P/P combo.
