Having a play with the Pentax K-1's Pixel Shift resolution mode. Now, unlike the Olympus system, which moves the sensor a fraction of a pixel for each successive shot, the K's moves one whole pixel. This means each single pixel gets a chance at all the colour channels on the filter array. Its effect is subtle - the resolution doesn't increase (remaining at 36MP) but the higher colour fidelity and decrease in noise is very noticeable. Downside is the file size, increasing from around 50MB for a raw file up to around 150MB.
Off to the Lakes on a walking/photo holiday later this year and cannot wait to try this out. The Pentax weather sealing means the weather can do what it likes.
