Same here.I have. CTA-252XDII with the optional acrylic cover.
Apart from the VUs being temperamental it works well.
I must get it serviced sometime.
That should have probably been Chew Magna.I remember taking it to Nailsea
RS multi strand lightly twisted is perfect still.Currently running a CA/CXA 252 actively with pair of ARC 202. Amps ungraded a few years ago by Nytech.
In use daily, mainly with a streamer.
Still using the original Radio Spares multistrand cable in fashion at the time.
Would like to replace but remarkably little comment anywhere about best cable to use with classic Nytech equipment and the ARC speakers.
Was impressed with the sound of some Chord cable a friend purchased, but not with the price.
Have bought a Red Label CTA for spares, basically for the volume control !
Thanks for the info. The Sliders in the CTA are different to each other.
The bass and treble are 25k Linear law
The mid range is 10k Linear law
The balance and volume were more specialised
The balance is 100k log / antilog to give a better range for the balance control (still pretty useless though)
The Volume is a 25k log but with a centre tap for the Contour (loudness) button to work properly so it has an extra pair of pins in the centre of the control midway between up and down which makes the volume control easy to identify from the others.
None have been made for decades but there may be a Bourns pot in the USA that might fit the PCB but I've not got my hands on one yet to try it for real.
So as far as the volume controls go (as this is the one most likely to wear out) How much is rocking horse poo these days
Hope this is useful to someone
