General Election 2024

Crikey, almost exactly the words the blue verison of the tories used when they got into power in 2010
Precisely

All Labour are doing is payback for the “There is no money left” note left for Osbourne in 2010

Strange how what was a joke between two chancellors has been weaponised to misinform millions

Doesn’t have to be a fantasy.

There have been a fair few revolutions in our lifetimes and revolutionary situations that were quelled. That doesn't have to mean socialist revolutions but I think that's what people think of as fantasy while completely ignoring all the others!

Even the FT editorial this morning was (amongst the usual stuff about 'reform' of the NHS) arguing for increased borrowing to invest in "broken public services" and stimulate the economy. Their stated view is that both parties have locked themselves into needlessly restrictive fiscal rules that are just going to make things worse.
I found a non paywall version… interesting. Thanks.

Not for those of us who are better off under the SNP and who vote for them
Obviously.. who you vote for is up to you.. However it's disappointing , in the context of this forum, which is for the most part populated by mature and well educated folks.. that your voting intention seems to be entirely based in self interest.

From the article: Britain’s hope of enjoying European-level social welfare for American-level taxes is reaching its limit.

"Neither party is being upfront" IMO because that would be a vote loser, unfortunately.

Let’s not forget Signore et Signora Mussolini’s glorious end.

Wut? I posited just yesterday his dishevelled and blotchy mien suggested he'd returned from Lebedev's villa in Italy. Playing strip Jack naked and swapping NATO security codes in 2018 and not knowing he and Lebedev were being monitored by Italy's secret intelligence service clearly isn't enough of a Red flag to curtail his enjoyment.

Johnson appears not at all bothered the Party he represented has shat its pants and is flailing around trashing itself. Disassociating himself
from Tory rubble is easier than from the ruble though. I mean, The Scum have been more than happy to take Putin's influence bribe investment donations for years, and continuity remains the name of the game, so Johnson and his wayward todger remain home from home.

Seascale is the village in Cumbria were it is located. The reactors were called Windscale pile 1 and pile 2, I think
I still smile at the Lenny Henry newsreader sketch from the 80s:

In other news, following the renaming of Windscale to Sellafield, the Government have announced that from now on, nuclear fallout will be known as Magic Moonbeams.

Labour held to the left by the SNP would be better for us all. When crazy right-wing Harry Enfield caricatures like Mick and Ponty favour Starmer you know Labour has some real issues. If I was in Scotland I’d unquestionably vote SNP, and for independence from Tory Little England.

No idea but the SNP will lose a lot of seats in the GE, they'll hold onto the western isles and probably bits of Edinburgh but I doubt they'll hold on to much in Glasgow and the likes of Aberdeen and Inverness etc.

If I were a betting man I'd be betting on less than 20 seats for the SNP.

I'm in an SNP constituency BTW I think they might hold on here though.
They're almost certainly going to lose the Western Isles seat too. Labour coming back strong and the current MP will now be standing as an Alba MP and will split the independence vote there.

Labour in Scotland?, the tories in Scotland?......aye...crack on as they say.

Reeves keeps telling me that Liz Truss trashed the economy.

Like a broken record.

Mind you, if she hadn't told me, I would never have known.

The problem with voting SNP is that they’re not interested in independence so it’s a wasted vote plus the last 18months has been a sh!tstorm from SNP it’s been a one party state here and frankly the SNP have delivered virtually nothing in all of the years they’ve been in power, yes they’ve delivered some health stuff ie cutting alcohol consumption and cigarettes smoking etc but that’s about all that they’ve delivered on most other issues it’s been a shambles here.

Truss should be strung up, it should never be forgotten how much she effed things up, this should be on her gravestone ‘here lies a c@nt that cost millions of people their savings!’

Pettaci had nothing on under her skirt someone covered her up I believe.

My savings have done very well.
Interest rates have gone up all over the world. Not just here.

That, Tony, is a different argument.

I responded to your post..as it stood. You didn't qualify it.
