Current worth of your hifi?

Mine is worth around 10 bob (to my kids and wife) as they could not care less and see it as clutter etc. But I know it's worth a few more bob than that :)

Right (finds back of fag packet to write on). Upstairs system, £4k-ish. Downstairs system, £15k-ish,

Not possible,my speakers cost 2.5K 15 years back,they have now been discontinued,but would guess the equivalent would be 2-3 times more today.

Of far importance than the system, to me, is my colleciton of vinyl and CDs; so many memories in there.
With the exception of the Linn SARAs, which are totally unique, I could buy everything else if needed.

My system is a Sony CD/DVD player which cost, about 12+ years ago, £250;
Quad active studio monitors 8+ years ago £450;
Cambridge Audio dac/pre-amp (12 months) £800.

Thankfully very little compared to times over the past twenty years when it has been silly. My current amp was free from my dad although it took a few hundred to get it on song. Apart from my speakers you could probably buy my amp, CD player, DAC and turntable for about a grand, peanuts really. But as Jez says who cares.
