This is not the way one should wake up.
The postman called at 7.30am this morning (not a problem - I'm quite frequently awake at this time of day, sadly sometimes from the day before), and delivered a platter this morning from Iceni Audio.
So... opening up -
(1) The shim he was supposed to include for VTA wasn't there. Again, not a problem. Plenty of places to buy these, and it gives me an excuse to buy a nice one elsewhere. He was chucking it in for free, no biggie.
(2) WHAT THE BLOODY HELL IS THAT DOING ENGRAVED ON THE TOP PLATTER? Yep, there it is - engraved twice on the top platter, Iceni Audio Ltd. It's not in the pictures on their website, or on their eBay listing. So what should have been a flawless black surface has their name laser engraved on it. Twice. In letters just over half an inch high.
I'm not building a rally car, I'm building a turntable. It's not a sponsored turntable, for sure. An email has been sent to see if they've got platters that actually match the pictures they've been using to sell them.
This is off the back of being told that the custom order they were happy to take details for, they can't build after all. Receiving a "custom engraved" platter after that, simply does NOT sit well. This sort of thing can't be the norm, can it?
