This won't hurt United at all. People will feign outrage, but will buy the cheapest most convenient flight for their purposes. Just like they always do. Any settlement the gentlman recieves will be at the discretion of the airline. Sound and fury, signifying nothing.
I think it was the police and not United who removed the man from the aircraft. If you don't comply with the instructions of a police officer good things are not going to happen. A very unfortunate occurance for sure, but is the airline responsible for the outcome?
