    Record Shops RIP ...................................

Cheese, There is a shop matching your description in Brighton - "The Record Album" - it used to be in Queens Road, but moved to a smaller outlet in Terminus Road. (Exit Brighton Station turn right - head towards the Cafe at the bottom of the hill, turn right up the curvy hill and it is a...

"bodies": is it the greatest rock 'n roll track ever?

Ricky, I don't know your definition of great, but it is OK. It has the May '76 Spedding Demos on it, and the very rare Mike Thorne December '76 demos too. Disc 1 is NMTBHTSP, plus B-Sides, plus the Spedding tracks. Disc 2 are mainly Goodman's July '76, October '76 and January '77 demo's...

"bodies": is it the greatest rock 'n roll track ever?

I think that the Dave Goodman June/July 1976 'Spunk' demos (when combined with his October 1976 and early 1977 demos = 'No Future') have dated far more than the Chris Thomas 'Bollocks' productions. Spedding's May 1976 demos show a band slowly finding their feet in the studio, and are...

"bodies": is it the greatest rock 'n roll track ever?

One of my favourite names from those 'Sex Pistols On Tour Secretly' gigs was "Acne Rabble". Interviewer: Why is this tour so secret? Paul Cook: It hasn't been secret. Interviewer: It has been bloody secret, you've been 'Acne Rabble' in the Gazette, why have you... Steve Jones: 'Cos we...

I told you it was great!

"bodies": is it the greatest rock 'n roll track ever?

Sid, It is from the 2002 Classic Albums TV series, the full title is something like: 'Classic Albums - Never Mind The Bollocks Here's The Sex Pistols ...the definitive authorised story of the album.' In addition to the ten segments shown on TV it contains thirteen DVD only bonus chapters...

"bodies": is it the greatest rock 'n roll track ever?

Greatest rock 'n' roll track ever - nah. One of the greatest punk tracks ever - definitely (although I prefer the humour and 'baked bean' rhyme in "Satellite"). It is a horrific track though, and pretty much a true story too from what Johnny Joseph has said here and there. If you like the...

    Record Shops RIP ...................................

Borderline, Rounder, Wax Factor and more than a few other little hidden outlets too. Even HMV and Virgin have some vinyl. All in Brighton and easily found when the London scum aren't crowding the streets in the North Laine and the Lanes.

"Huh, is that it?" Well received albums which you just don't "get"

Big Star are great! Radio City and Sister Lovers are great LPs. I don't get classical. It's just regurgitated cover versions of music now totally out of context, played with all the emphasis moved to technique and all veneered with sickly Edwardian ideas of improvement. IMO. ;)

    PIL’s Metal box reissued

Nice job Tony, I'd started to try the same thing, your image is far better than my camera allowed me! Marmite, My original had a dent from day one - I kind of like it, honest. As for the 'shiny' stuff it will be interesting to see if the new boxes rot like the old ones did. (It is...

    Syd's dead.

Time to play Syd's songs at obscene volumes. Happy dreams Mr Barrett.

    PIL’s Metal box reissued

Tony, I've got an original too. It has four paper inserts, the red A5 tracklisting and the sticker on the back, my sticker is identical to Fox's. The 'lyric sheet' mentioned is worth adding to an 'original', mine is from the NME (1st Dec. 79 - Page 9!). It has PUBLIC IMAGE LTD. and THE METAL...

What albums have you purchased for just that one track?

Just two. The Gourds - 'gogitchyershinebox' (for their superb 'Gin and Juice' cover, bee-yatch!) Fountains of Wayne - 'Utopia Parkway' (for the very catchy 'Red Dragon Tattoo')
