Led to that:Charles Lloyd: Wild Man Dance - a live show from a few years ago released last year. In a tradition from both John and Alice Coltrane with a jazz quarter playing alongside two Greek instrumentalists - and sounds much better than that promises.

Yep same hear. Really looking forward to this release. Finally, a new Nubya Garcia album on the way, Odyssey. Cut across four sides and the track on Bandcamp sounds great. I was fearing she’d burnt out after Source as only remixes under her own name since then, though she was a substantial part of the London Brew project. Looking forward to this one…
PS I’ve actually paid total LOLprice for a signed colour vinyl copy from her own site (my white vinyl Source is signed too).
Ouch! At least it ships with a free pack of incense ("while stocks last")I’ve actually paid total LOLprice for a signed colour vinyl copy from her own site.

I hope it's not a GZ special again - but I fear it will be.I hadn’t even noticed that! To be honest that sort of thing bugs me a bit as it takes up space on the shelf, or you have to think of somewhere to put it, remember where it is, and remember it came with the record! I’ve a few bits just sitting around, e.g. a tote bag that came with the Nabiha Iqbal album, a big jigsaw piece that came with a Ezra Collective album, a book that came with a Plaid album etc etc. All makes it a better investmen, but you do need to keep it. An example is my 1st press of Pixies Doolittle has the poly carrier bag, even though it is folded up inside the sleeve it means I’d get top dollar if I ever sold it. The thicker stuff stands a real chance of being separated from the album over time. It seems like a new thing, in the past posters, booklets, bonus 7” singles etc all fitted in the sleeve!
I’ll always take a signed original copy over any other edition. That is the real collectable IMO, and I will pay more for it.
PS I want to see Nubya Garcia do well and grow in prominence. I think she has an amazing tone and phrasing, and I do like the funky modern cross-genre melting pot of the current London scene. This one needs to be a good album!
Somewhere I have the air freshener produced to go with the Quinoline Yellow – LMW Motors 3" CD on Skam. It's double-bagged because even after twenty years the smell is so strong!I hadn’t even noticed that! More clicky than a set of castanets in a school music lesson usually. It wouldn’t surprise me, but I do feel they have got a lot better of late. I’ve not had anything arrive scratched for a long while now. The problem with a lot of modern value is it is just too long so has no dynamic range. Stuff sold as single albums that needed to be a double. I guess that has always been a problem though, e.g. much of Miles Davis electric period is way too long per side and sounds better on CD to me. Go over 20 minutes a side and sound quality goes down the pan pretty fast.
I do too but the GZs are often blooming terrible. The recent Tom Waits reissues are worse than Island in the 80s. I posted an image of a needle drop of Bone Machine here...I clean everything before playing which I suspect cures that, especially if it is a record that had that awful combination of paper or card inners, shrink wrap, and a crazy strong static charge. My theory is uncorrected the dust is held in place by the static charge and welded to the groove wall by the passing stylus! Maybe not welded, but stuck to the point it takes a bit of cleaning to get out. The combination of a Zerostat to help get the record out of the sleeve the first time and then a good wet-clean gives things a much better chance.
