A thread to recommend decent movies on Netflix / Amazon Prime?

I'm enjoying 'Manhunt Unabomber' on Netflix. Bright, driven FBI guy is able, after many have tried, to accurately 'psychologically profile' the terrorist. But he must face the reason why he was able to do it....

‘Dark’ has just appeared on Netflix UK. Not watched any of it yet but friends who have are most impressed.

Cheers, just read up on that, sounds good, will start tonight while Strictly/X Factor/I’m a celeb’ hog the TV for the Mrs and daughter. A tablet and closed back headphones have proven to be a great investment these last few months. (In recent weeks I’ve watched Manhunters, good/ok, The Sinner, very good, started watching Stranger Things, not my cup of tea and restarted watching House of Cards (S3), very good too).

You may wish to tweak languages (if you hate dubbing as much as I) as it’s a German series but the default audio option appears to be ‘dubbed’. I’ve set it it for German language and English subs...

Trentemøller: The Science of Fixion, currently on Amazon Prime, looks interesting for any synth fans (and, obviously, fans of Trentemøller himself).

Just watched it. I’ve not heard much since The Last Resort, which I really like. The new stuff is remarkably close to Faith-era Cure, which I wasn’t expecing!

The Jaco Pastorius movie ‘Jaco’ is now available on Amazon Prime.

Jaco includes some incredible insights from an array of artists including Flea, Joni Mitchell, Sting, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Geddy Lee, Bootsy Collins, Carlos Santana and others as well as Jaco's family, and friends. It unveils the story of his music, his life, his demise, and ultimately the fragility of great artistic genius.
Starring: Jaco Pastorius, Flea, Joni Mitchell
Runtime: 1 hour, 56 minutes

I watched this last night. Excellent, but depressing to see his decline.

Halfway through the 2nd series of The Americans. Not a very likable couple, are they? And bad parents too.

Good call, this is key for anyone wanting to watch Dark, I tried it with overdubs and it’s horrible, yes, only seems to work with German language and your subtitles of choice.

Story coming together now, must admit to struggling a bit early on, in hindsight probably the language issue.

Recently finished 'Halt and Catch Fire' on Amazon Prime - really enjoyed it, and it brought back plenty of memories!

Cheers. Bill

Gods of Egypt

The former has a ridiculous premise and the latter looked like CGI tat! Both "exceeded expectations" thanks to wry humour, let's put it that way.

Yes we go for pop when it comes to film and TV!

Series 4 of Black Mirror is on there now. More cautionary tales about technology.

Episode 1 has a Star Trekky theme. Excellent stuff.

A low-level arms deal set in an old, disused factory sometime in the '70s, probably, replete with porntashes and comic-like catastrophes - what could possibly go wrong!?

Free Fire on Amazon

I am enjoying "The marvelous Mrs. Maisel" on Amazon Prime. It is set in the late fifties and follows the story of a housewife who wants to be a stand up comedian. It looks terrific too.
