I watched this last night, which was fascinating, so I'm having a listen to the whole album.

Can remember when ‘Frampton comes alive’ was first released. Also when PF played in Humble Pie, another great band in the early days, shame about Steve Marriott.

at times reminds me of the groove-ier bits of Jarrett's european quartet.

Catch a fire. - Bob Marley and the Wailers

ma favourite album from them …everything is magic on this album…singing, playing and especially bass playing .
Two folk, once said…and ah think it was on these forums…
“Deep bass and Tannoys do not mix”
“Tannoys, unfortunately don’t go low”
Ah would invite whoever said this, to get a friend to play this album …to them, on Tannoys.

1961 French issue. Not exactly a state of the art recording even for 1959 but I love this line up with Bobby Timmons and it's a really atmospheric nightclub recording with the audience cheering and even singing along in some sections.

Here's a photo of Club St Germain - it was tiny! (You can see the same curved roof painted wall in the sleeve photo).

Imagine sitting right at the front with The Jazz Messengers in full flight!
