They must have sold shedloads at the time - it's one of those records that's guaranteed to show up in record boxes and shops otherwise completely devoid of modern jazz.

They must have sold shedloads at the time - it's one of those records that's guaranteed to show up in record boxes and shops otherwise completely devoid of modern jazz.

Perhaps the most successful Jazz album up until that time, unexpectedly so quite possibly. The Original Cast Recording, from the Broadway show with Rex Harrison and Julie Andrews, had been the best-selling album in the US in 1956 though. I'm not sure when that came out in the UK without looking it up, but I think the London show opened a little later.
