On vinyl with a few pops and crackles thrown in to add to the atmos!
Just picked it up s/h - really enjoying it. Not a duff track IMO. Ashamed to say it's the first time I've heard it. Don't know how it escaped my attention.
Re: Midlake, I am constantly amazed that this album, for all its pagan leanings and folk-music-from-the-woods roots, being a natural successor to early 70s Fairport Convention, could be made by a young band out of... Texas???
It just doesn't compute. Every time I hear it, I just can't understand how this can come about.
Sure, Bluegrass, Country, Blues, it's all folk music influences that came across with the settlers , but this... it can't account for it.
I'm going to play it again now. I just adore it.
