War declared, Israel v Palestine...

Indeed but some Palestinians don't want Israel to exist.

There are many, many Israelis who do not wish Palestine to exist, e.g. the entire “settler” movement who have stolen so many people’s homes and land with their violence and intimidation (often openly supported by the military thugs of the IDF). These international law breaking criminals are very well represented in Israel’s far-right government. This is before we even get to Gaza and the mass slaughter of an illegally blockaded, contained and imprisoned population detained under a brutal system of racist apartheid. This is never a concept delivered by a power structure that wants such people to exist. Certainly not to exist with equal rights, liberties and freedoms.

If you had been born into Gaza how would you view your oppressors?

I'd be surprised if any Palestinians want Israel to exist just now, let's get real. The point is that they're unable to do anything about the situation.
Of course, the only actors with the power to do anything are international powers, but while they talk about a two state solution for public consumption, they make a joke of it behind closed doors.

Just another example of how democracies tell lies to the electorate.

Something that the IDF didn't show on October the 7th.

Netanyahu actively funding Hamas in order to throw a spanner into any prospect of a two-state solution needs to be factored in here too.

I don't know about the funding (sounds a bit conspiratorial IMHO). The main reason was Israel under Netanyahu not honouring the Oslo Accord that Arafat signed up to and Arafat not being able to maintain popular support as a result.

This is a slightly older academic paper (https://lsa.umich.edu/content/dam/c...ts/unit-of-israel-palestine/Section2_ PLO.pdf)

"2. On the right some Islamist groups feel that the PLO is too willing to cooperate with socialists and is too willing to negotiate with Israel. They feel there should be a united Palestine where Jews could live, but which would not be governed by Jews. The largest of these groups is called Harakat Al-Mouqawama Al-Islamiyya (Hamas, or the Islamic Resistance Movement). ‘Hamas’ is an acronym meaning ‘enthusiasm’ or ‘zeal’."

Look what happened to him and the PLO as a result - Gaza's support shifted to the more militant Hamas. Both parties want peace on their terms and no-one wants to shift.
Yes. Israel set about undermining the PLO and the PA and funded Hamas to that end.

Gaza’s cultural, educational landmarks destroyed by Israeli attacks

Israeli forces have destroyed many landmarks in Gaza, including cultural and educational centres.
These are some of the prominent ones:
  • Municipal Public Library, Gaza City
  • Rashad El Shawa Cultural Center
  • Diana Tamari Sabbagh Library
  • Municipal printing press
  • Childhood Happiness Center
  • Islamic University

It is very well documented:

A couple are paywalled, but plenty more to be found with a search.

Netanyahu grasped his far-right colonialism and apartheid would only be possible against a divided and oppressed Palestine, so he divided and oppressed by making the calculated decision to fund Hamas in order to split and weaken the PLO and therefore ensure a two-state solution was never realistically on the table.

Netanyahu owns this mess. He does not want peace. He has never wanted peace. If he gets to bulldoze Gaza into the sea, no matter what the death-toll, he will have achieved his aims. That done squeezing the rest of the West Bank out of existence will be easy. That job is mostly done as-is. I am in little doubt that is the end goal here. This looks like an ethnic cleansing.

Yeabutt Israel would only have razed the place to the ground if there was a Hamas HQ underneath, just like the one under Al Shafia they will discover any day now. No really, any day now.

He does not want peace. He has never wanted peace.

I believe he did at one point but he lost a lot of his support as a result and changed his stance to become PM again.

But I agree, much of this his chickens coming home to roost. This won't be lost on most of the Israeli Electorate - not long after this is over, he's out for good.

I doubt that there will be many Israelis, living in Israel, where the memories of the October 7th atrocities are still fresh, and with hostages still in Gaza with no sign of a release date, who would entertain the idea of having a Palestinian state on their doorstep any time soon.

So ethnic cleansing, apartheid or genocide are the only options left? Maybe it is time to assess how you view the world as you appear to have been radicalised. The rest of us will continue to argue for peace and a negotiated long-term solution that respects the human rights and freedoms of all parties involved.

This seems at odds with your previous statement in favour of a two state solution.

If you read my post carefully I am trying to imagine what it must be like for Israelis living in Israel right now, with the rest of the world telling them from their (relatively comfortable) viewpoints abroad that they must have a two state solution in order for there to be peace.
