OMG Bro.

Hi Chris,
Yes I’m fine thanks. Still getting to the odd show, the latest being The Waterboys at the Palladium end of April, very good they were too.

Rumours are Leeds are after our best striker, Vydra, decent player when he’s in the mood.

Cheers for now,

Dave

Its from made.com. a colour combo that's not available as one of the doors was damaged in transit so they replaced it with a colour of my choice. I removed the backing board where the amp is and added a middle leg.
Could I ask...what is the unit that the TV is sat on?

( though it does look like I cant afford it ! )
The carcass is very similar to one we have with the 2nd telly in the dining room. Had a different name when we got it, but the unit is the same:

Both that and the Made one look the business but they are both just a bit too low for my needs.

What really strikes me, when looking at these photos, is how well many have integrated their systems into their homes - extremely sympathetically to the decor and yet with relatively few compromises. In some cases the system is even an active part of the whole room aesthetic!

In my own case the system is certainly part of the room aesthetic - but in the sense that it completely defines it in an 80’s Hi-Fi shop dem-room way. There’s certainly no shortage of visible cabling! Well done all :).

Some cables peeking out....

Oh dear, given up;

Your 62/72 has a sleeve with rounded corners... I'm intrigued. What's the story? Also, are those more Naim sleeves below? I could have 5 of them and still keep finding things to do with them. But in my case I'm probably going to just keep repurposing my one extra sleeve for different things like my CB look DAC.

Ah yes, it’s a rather non-standard 72. All the internals are by Ryan Sound Labs. The case has rounded corners because I made a dark grey smoked acrylic sleeve for it. Yes, those are more Naim style sleeves below (a good friend used to make and sell them). The one on the left houses the turntable power supply and the two stacked ones are the power supplies for my phonostage. In total I have seven of these in my system, not including the two Naim actually did make :). Apparently you need a lot of boxes to play a record....

Two more boxes - the rest of my phonostage.

This year I'm down to one LP12, the other has gone to a fellow fish. Interestingly, the system sounds better as a whole with the 252 on a top shelf. However, it seems there are plans afoot meaning I'd probably have to go down to a single rack, downsize the amps and get some smaller speakers (I know...). I'll enjoy it whilst I can as it sounds fantastic!

Oooooo errrrrr....
User211,

Would love to hear Coltrane circa 57 on that setup!

Cool as ****. Respect.

I am doing so now.

I take it you mean John Coltrane? Not my genre at all but I have to say it sounds freakin' awesome. Just playing what TIDAL reckons are his best tracks. Got some KR 300B RK in the DAC and they are making total magic with it.

You're welcome to knock on the door sometime.

This is close.

They are Apogee Duetta Interstella - a medium of cosmic transport.

They are basically Apogee Duettas. But built to a much higher specification. The only thing original is the magnet arrays.

400-500 e-mails, a lot of long telephone conversations on how to make them better than the originals etc etc and a big long wait before they became real.

The frames are massively more rigid than the original speaker with internal aluminium bracing, super rigid far more elaborate stands that screw into the frame bracing, external crossovers with boutique parts, upgraded by me at one stage post delivery for even more betteressness etc etc.

Built by Jon Oakey at http://www.reality-audio.com/. Apogee history here for the curious: http://www.reality-audio.com/apogeespeakers.html.

I had a blue pair which was a standard restoration. They were good. But thought and curiousity made me think you could make them a lot better and you can. The results are fantastic. Especially now I have them tuned exactly where I want them to be. A recent DAC upgrade proves that they are even better than I thought they were.

That is a problem - finding source kit that can do them justice.

If I could I'd make them out of some seriously exotic materials that aren't really practical but I am sure you could do even better - with diminishing returns, obviously.

DNA 2.0? That's product evolution for you ...
Still new but reviewers are saying that they seem to have removed a good bit of the guanine, so it's very cytosine-heavy now. Just depends what your tastes are. Also, I think it has a passive preamp now, so you can't hook up a Flatcap.

:D Yeah the naming conventions are typical german in logic. D-igital N-etwork A-mplifier

The DNA 2.0 (2 channel) can be configured as a DNA 2.2 (2 channel plus 2 subs)

I didn't expect to find the latest spec'd version with all the optional extras this quickly, as they stopped production in 2017. Luckily i just found a mint version in silver/blue with there CARMA room correction software+ kit and the MM/MC phono module.

The DNA 1 is an updated SAM G2 incorporating there DNC (D-igital N-etwork C-lient)
