Recommended movies etc on Netflix/Amazon Prime III

Your family friend is a superb young actor. A bright future is absolutely on the cards, IMO.
He does seem to be in everything on Netflix atm - The Gentleman and Baby Reindeer included... he's a level headed lad and I hope to use him in some of our productions if he fancies it and likes the scripts.

I haven't seen Oppenheimer although I do hope the sex scenes end with a quick cut to a mushroom cloud.

To be honest it was a bit 'porny' and seedy especially when he was reading her the text in Sanskrit like she was getting off on it.

Maybe I'm getting it wrong but she was a complex character, she was a psychiatrist, possibly bi-sexual and or a lesbian, to me the sex scene was just 'horny woman having a shag' with really intelligent guy type of thing.

I don't think it added anything to the film.

Watched "Secrets of the Neanderthals" on Netflix. Interesting take on the accepted take on them. I am always fascinated by this era, ever since I read the Ladybird book "Our Land in the Making".

I originally rented Oppenheimer from apple and immediately after watching it I bought it, watched it 3 more times in the following wee. I thought it was a fantastic film and the soundtrack is ace as well

Watched ‘The Tattooist of Auschwitz’ on Sky Atlantic. My visit there last year is still fresh in the mind. I’ve not read the book and I’m sure the Series doesn’t do it justice but I thought it was very thought provoking. There was an interesting family discussion last weekend amongst those who had read the book, my MIL was very much on the side of him being a collaborator, others less so to varying degrees. My job stops me from reading other than on holiday but I think I’ll read it next time I’m away.

Cheers BB

Amazing Journey: The Story of The Who. Amazon Prime. Excellent documentary on the career of The Who, good interviews and archive footage. Since it was authorised by them it probably glosses over some bits, but a really worthwhile watch nonetheless.

It was the last book that my Dad passed to me before he died. I thought it was a wonderful book, maybe heightened by my Dad’s subsequent passing.I’ve seen the trailers but hesitate in watching it.

I can’t watch suffering based on true events and especially something at that kind of scale namely the Holocaust; I wouldn’t go near it with a barge pole but, Keitel in The Tattooist of Auschwitz is excellent and with a lesser actor it wouldn’t have been as powerful.

We watched pretty little lies last week on the Apple Store, Olivia Coleman is brilliant but as for the story and the rest total rubbish the swearing is epic though, the story could have been a whole lot better especially if they’d stuck to the actual true story.

Definitely not worth the fiver rental.
