While it's all very entertaining watching Republicans disgrace themselves fighting like rats in a sack, it seems the lunatic wing's aim is to break the system of government and so far they've been quite successful. It's the continuation of Trump's coup, also still in motion at every other level.

No idea! Lots of speculation about what’s next. There are rumors of a stalking horse, another moderate candidate who’s ready to go, but only if McCarthy gives up. There are also rumors that at least some of the insurrectionists are slightly less radicalized, and may wear out over time. If they flip, it won’t be enough for McCarthy to win, but it would create the illusion of momentum and possibly increase the pressure on the remaining “never Kevin’s”.
Right now the gridlock is absolute. Nobody is changing their vote, and the insurrectionists are getting the one thing they really want: lots of TV airtime to spout their right wing nonsense.

We cannot rule out the possibility that the lady who reads out the vote results has been hacked by Hugo Chavez via a computer in Germany and Trump is the real winner and should be the next speaker.
