Great to see these being improved. When I was a young architect in the 60s, these were cutting edge and I knew one the people who worked on it. It’s taken 50 years to be appreciated.
 
Tony, you've probably said, but what lens you using?
Hi Alex,

It’s a Canon 400mm f5.6 L. A thirty year old design, no image stab, no weather sealing. But relatively cheap for the image quality it can give. I think on a dSLR it might struggle more with autofocus than it does on a mirrorless.
Also, for some of the above photos, a Canon 1.4x III, to give 560mm. And! Because the lens doesn’t focus close (about 3 metres without the 1.4x) I added a 25mm extension tube. Not an elegant set up, but it can give good results. And my camera has in-body image stabilisation, which helps to a degree.
