Fabulous weird sky - saw similar in New Zealand once, but some really odd things going on with the processing/resolution or something, or maybe this wasn't planet earth?

@JemHayward -- what odd things? i really didn't do very much post-processing (a wee bit of contrast).

I'm getting pink streaks in the sky (plausible, but the lower part of the sky isn't pink) and green tinges in the areas I'd expect to be grey. Just downloaded it and it and the resolution is only about 900 pixels, so I'm wondering if the jpg compression is a bit aggressive - would love to see the original file in all it's glory!!!

yes, a light violet colour. that is the reality and what makes it interesting.

OK, i also nudged down the blue a bit to bring out the bottom yellow a touch and i think that may be adding to the green illusion. hey, can i hand over all my post-processing to you next time? it is what i hate the most about photogrphy and i'm not particularly good at it. i really need to limit what i choose to process, though it's sometimes tough to make that decision until one has tried and sees the outcome.
