It's an interesting subject. When our son left home, it left a small bedroom that I could use as a home office. It was only a matter of time before I installed a hi-fi in there; I had loads of unused/spare bits of equipment that I could use. The only thing I had to buy, was a cd player and I chose the Cambridge CXC because I could use it with an existing DAC. As the room is so small, I've had to be inventive in how it's set up, but it's worked out ok. The only thing is, that, unsurprisingly, I've introduced improvements when I've thought of them, like the Norton AirPower that was sitting around. I tried it on the Linn and liked it, so I had to find room for it! Initially, it was plonked on the adjacent desk, but there was no way that it could stay there. Luckily, I have spur shelving in that room and I have loads of spare brackets, so it didn't take long to put in a new shelf. I've tried to keep it neat, but at the same time making sure that it is set up as close to optimum as I can. There's lots of equipment in there, with the hi-fi, laptop, monitor, record cleaning machine etc. and it all needs a supply to plug into. I fitted a 3-gang wall socket, with an ordinary run of the mill four way mains extension for the computer peripherals and RCM, a 6-way star wired block for the hi-fi, and another ordinary 4-way extension for charging phones iPad etc. into the third socket. The Linn is on a Mana Reference shelf. The point of this, is that it often takes a bit of ingenuity to fit everything in, but it’s worth the effort in the end!
