Folk/Acoustic

Well done! you've just help me spend £14 on the CD, but it's worth it... gorgeous.
Haven't blogged them before either, so will do that.

My pleasure, Mac! :) You should listen to their previous albums too - From the Fields is my favourite, with Over the Edge not far behind. They are good at writing songs about local characters and events, and are both excellent musicians and singers. Look forward to reading your blog, I expect that they'd be happy to chat to you.

Yes, I've heard the previous albums... very good. Apparently, this is their 7th album, but only the 3 on Spotify.
Cheers

@maccar I'd like to know your top 5 folky album -recordings- ?

Folk's often sparser sound tends towards good recordings I find. Sarah Jarocz for eg (grey album with pink flowers on). And I'm very lucky that my favourite album of all time, is one of my best recordings. Maccar knows which this is.

My favourite folk -song- of all time though, is this rendition of.. someone else's rendition of..

Possibly my favourite song of all in fact. Capt

Sorry, haven't been on here for a couple of days so only just seen this... I'll have a think and come back.

Afraid there's no way I could get it down to 5 and I've split them into British and American Folk, ten in each... haven't included any obvious ones like Nick Drake or Joni

British
Karine Polwart, Traces
Jackie Oates, The Spyglass and the Herringbone
Cara Dillon, Hill of Thieves
Laura Marling, I speak because I can
M G Boulter Clifftown
Tunng, ...And then we saw land
Rachel Sermanni, Under Mountains
Declan O'Rourke, Chronicals of the great Irish famine
Maz O'Connor, Upon a stranger shore
John Smith, Great lakes

American
Beth Nielsen Chapman, Sand and Water
Anais Mitchell, Young Man in America
Barnaby Bright, The longest day
Catherine Feeney, Hurrican Glass
Laura Veirs, World of Meteors
David Wilcox, How did you find me here
Sam Amidon, self titled
Richard Shindell, Vuelta
Rhiannon Giddens, Freedom Highway
Jeffrey Foucault, Miles from the lightning
Ask me again next year and I'm sure the list will change.

@maccar
According to Roon, there's not a British and/or American artist anywhere near the top of my most listened to list of folk music. Of the eight listed with youtube links only Faun is not available on Bandcamp.

1 - Myrkur, Folksange
2 - Faun, Midgard
3 - Eliwagar, I Vølven's Vev
4 - Hindarfjäll, Från Tidernas Begynnelse
5 - Veden Kolod, Dance of the Wood Spirits
6 - Kati Rán, LYS (originally issued with LEAF as the artist and for some reason listed as Katt Ran on Bandcamp)
https://youtu.be/QQcjShoo5bU
7 - Runahild, Seldgaldr
https://youtu.be/SY4jjL0nLVk

8 - Liholesie, Shamanic Twilight

I have to reach number 30 to find a UK act - Steeleye Span's Back in Line :)
