Christmas Wine III

Last edited:
I rarely go to Kingston CC but the security staff have a reputation for being overzealous. I doubt the court will have catering facilities. You may well spent sometimes out of court so a book/computer will come in useful. Good luck!

... I've just received a summons to do Jury Service in Kingston. I am absolutely dreading it!
OT but I have had three summons' over the years, and been empanelled on four juries. Once you have worked out the practicalities I suspect you may enjoy it for the glimpses into different aspects of society. IME, court staff and judges have shown really great understanding of how to help jurors. I think the key practical things are (including the above from @andrew d):
- how to get there on time and back home later
- what lunch arrangements are available (e.g. Chelmsford CC had closed the juror's restaurant on my most recent stint there but they did have an unreliable vending machine and a fridge for packed lunches or there were local places to eat although that meant an extra trip through security)
- which elements of your costs are claimable (if that matters to you)
- what you are going to do to avoid boredom during some inevitable long periods waiting for something to happen

PM if it helps.

Didn't have the Filos chardonnay, picked this up at Aldi.

Quite light good for a rare sunny day.
Nice bite though.

Interesting list of ingredients:
"Grapes, Acidity Regulator: Tartaric Acid; Stabilising Agent: Gum Arabic; Antioxidant: Potassium Bisulphite".
I understand the grapes and the sulphites, but what's with the tartaric acid and the gum arabic? Do all wines contain these, and Aldi just provide a more complete list than other bottlers, or is this unusual?

Jings.
I know there's a bizarre list of fining agents used in some wines.
Aldi is giving chapter and verse here as you say a more complete list.
I checked a P.grigio.
Grapes, Clarifying Agents: Casein (𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐤), 𝐄𝐠𝐠 Albumen Powder; Acidity Regulators: Tartaric Acid, Malic Acid; Antioxidant: L-ascorbic Acid; Preservative: 𝐒𝐮𝐥𝐩𝐡𝐮𝐫 𝐃𝐢𝐨𝐱𝐢𝐝𝐞; Gas: Carbon Dioxide.
Sounds like a chemical soup.

Tartaric acid is regularly added to grape juice prior to ferment to adjust TA (titratable acidity) and prevent "flabby" wines, it is not normally required to be declared as it is generally obtained from grapes. CO2 (or nitrogen) is pretty much universally used to control oxygen content prior to and during bottling. Gum arabic is used to soften acidity so using it in the same wine as tartaric acid is a bit odd, but probably points to poor quality grapes to start with.

Acidic Regulator gets a mention ( as a fictional band ) in the Half Man Half Biscuit Classic. She's in Broadstairs.
"Apparently she’s seeing A bloke who used to be in Acidic Regulator"

You've got to hand it Floyd, cooking and slurping.
I tried it and sent a glass flying.
Btw very tasty Rasteau.

Yevgeny does 6 bottles free delivery.
He's got some not bad chardonnay.
