    ATC SCM 40A Active Speakers

If you’re happy with Naim NAC42.5, you can use it with 40A. However, you’ll need a “custom” cable to connect your Naim Hicap to 40A. I had used an active pre with RCA to 19A(XLR), it worked great. Currently using passive preamp(RCA) to 19A XLR. So not hear anything odd and happy with what I...

    Advice on Harbeth speakers placement

Hi, I’ll suggest you pull your speakers out, giving them about 1m from the rear wall. Next, move the speakers to the right, giving them equal left and right distance.

Exposure 3510 built in MC stage vs DV P75 mk4

I have not experienced the new 3510 but have had xiii(13), xi(11)/ix(9) and p75mkii. Cartridge used was 17d3 and Lyra Delos. The P75 is good but when set to PE mode, the hiss is disturbing. Soundstage is rather narrow if soundstaging is your thing. XI/IX is quiet, quieter than XIII. Bigger...

    Epos or Kudos?

I have had Kudos C20 for some years and drove them with Exposure mono viiis. I reckoned the C20 will appreciate more power, so your ivdr should do great. Placement is quite easy, well they appreciate some space but they aren’t as tricky as Epos, which I also enjoyed. The Kudos has very lovely...

Heard a pair of passive ATC SCM40's today...

Absolutely. I have a preamp(with built-in phono), a cd player, a record player and a SUT. Less is more :)

Heard a pair of passive ATC SCM40's today...

I have to agree with TheFlash, that one need not crank up loud to enjoy the active. At average volume, they are still engaging but I cannot say this is the same with passive as I’d experience them to be boring till played loud.

Best Step-Up Transformer(s) for Koetsu Cartridges

I was sceptical too, till I try an SUT and the rest are history. Heard what GT had described, natural and realistic.

SUT recommendation for Tron Convergence MM

Hi Peter, Try writing to [email protected]. He should be able to help you. Dave Slagle from Intact Audio. You may want to try Tron’s SUT, I understand that should exceed your budget. Good luck

    I second the above.

    Step up transformers

Have had Whest PS.30RDTSE, Exposure 13 and a few others, I now prefer what I hear with a SUT. Like what GT had described. No hum to sort out but super quiet. I’m not associated to GT, but a new SUT user and believer. Bought a Dave Slagle unit, sublime!

    Step up transformers

Hi, I have been using active mc phonostage for as long as I’d been spinning vinyl(15yrs plus minus). Enquired about SUT but had always been told, they are slow sounding and not as transparent. Just received my first SUT meant for Ortofon 0.2mv output. First impression, bold, effortless...

been looking at record cleaning machines..

I had VPI 16.5 for some years, they do what they are designed for. Value for money in my opinion, especially if bought used. I find it loud and motor gets hot after 2-3 LPs of cleaning. Bought a Nessie after the VPI died on me. Much quieter, motor isn’t hot even after 6-8 consecutive of LPs...

Phono upgrade recommendations from Whest ps30r to ?

Hi, I’d not hear Audia Flight phonostage before but have had experience with its amplifiers. If the phonostage has a similar house sound of its amplifier, it is a rather different presentation to Whest and Naim. If you enjoy the PS.30R, why not move up? PS.40RDT.SE or a Titan Pro? Naim...
