    Wharfedale Super Denton

The Denton 2XP were my first ever "proper" speaker. Sounded good back in the 70s, maybe less so now? And they didn't cost £999, but that's nearly 50 years of inflation for you. I'm convinced the relative cost must have been far less though, 'cos my parents would never ever have bought the...

    Negotiating Price with Dealers?

I've had that a few times. And it always cost them a sale.

    Negotiating Price with Dealers?

To be fair, the topic here is business. I have zero problems with posters stating their credentials regarding the topic under discussion. Make a change from people discussing the merits of stuff they've never heard.

    Speakers for NAIM

What? A Naim system sounding "harsh" and "fatiguing"? Surely not! Well, my solution to the problem was some Shahinians, which partner very well with Naim and easily fill a "large sitting room" (in fact, they sound best when given room to breathe). New, they're very expensive. Used they're...

    Sound quality at gigs

Barbican is amazing. Always great sound. There, Godspeed You! Black Emperor were majestic, and in complete contrast to when I saw them at the Troxy - a total mush.

    Sound quality at gigs

Tool at the O2 in 2022 was one of the worst rackets I've ever been subjected to, and from a band whose studio output is fabulously well recorded.

Considering a move from Genelec 8030Cs to 8331As

I have 8020s, 8030s (both for nearfield listening in different rooms), and Kii Threes (in the lounge). For me, the "next step" is going from the Genelecs to the Kiis. Of course, that's also a "next (big) step" in terms of £££, but the performance is otherworldly. I'll be very interested to hear...

[FS] Allo Digione, Rpi, case, sd card, wifi dongle, psu.

That's a tricky one. I'm trying to sell it, so the obvious answer is "it will jump out of the box and set itself up", but that would be fibbing. In reality, I got it working pretty quickly when I bought it, moved house a year or so back, and then had real problems at my new address. Nothing to...

[FS] Allo Digione, Rpi, case, sd card, wifi dongle, psu.

Thank you Sir! I've been lazy about bumping this. I really don't want the hassle of posting it etc. for such a low value item (had some bad past experiences with "lost" items etc.), so is there really not anyone in London / Nottingham who wants a great streamer for peanuts?

Musing about upgrades - Two sets of speakers (in the same room) ?

At least you're not obsessive about your hobby!

DAC / Streamer better than SBT / EE Minimax DAC?

I "upgraded" from a SBT to RPi and Digione, and from that to iFi ZenStream. TBH, I found very little sonic difference between any of them; all digital out into Kii Threes using the integrated Kii DACS. So, you might want to have a little listen before spending 1k?

NAC 52 with stand alone Actives?

Took me a couple of nanoseconds (also at Purite as it happens) to conclude I preferred a more "accurate sound". Overall, a rather leaner presentation but, paradoxically, with more information. Just wasn't hearing all the reflections etc. Bring along something "messy" to listen to: I used some...

    Mana Reference Wall Shelf

It was due to all the dust it attracted - cleaned the air up.
