How to get into an epos es22 speaker? Its a mystery.

I think it's because the mid range driver has a static phase plug (the middle bit) rather than one that's attached to the cone. This means there's no dust cover over the gap between the voice coil and the magnet so it's possible for debris to get in - that's what I'm assuming happened to mine...

How to get into an epos es22 speaker? Its a mystery.

Mine has suggested having them in the lounge instead of my PMC AB2s which (even without their stands) are bigger in every dimension. If anyone fancies a pair they'll be in the classifieds...

How to get into an epos es22 speaker? Its a mystery.

Well, here's a picture of the front cover off (on the floor). https://ibb.co/DgGgnJQ The pale strips are adhesive and seem happy to be removed and then put back on. The drivers are held in place with allen bolts into T-nuts in the case. Following a suggestion on AudioKarma I ran the driver...

How to get into an epos es22 speaker? Its a mystery.

I'll be selling them as is I guess. I switched to some much larger PMCs some time ago and kept these for the second system I never needed....

I don't suppose he'd be interested in selling the mid-driver by any chance? I've got a pair but the mid buzzes on sub-bass which I'm guessing is due to a distorted voice coil. I need to sell on the speakers so it would be easier with this resolved. Cheers Simon

    Built myself some super tweeters

Genius, I think some straight ones to make cylinders containing the capacitor as well should be just the ticket. Thanks for the tip!

    Built myself some super tweeters

For anyone interested (I appreciate this is an old thread) I just bought a couple of these for £15 each delivered here: http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-53481-19255-0/1?icep_ff3=2&toolid=10001&campid=5338728743&icep_item=261741581180. When coupled with some 'Audio Grade' 1uF polypropylene...

    Epos 165mm mid range driver?

Certainly looks the same, do you have one?

    Epos 165mm mid range driver?

One of my ES22s' midrange drivers is distorting at any volume after I had an amplifier failure that left 57v DC on the speaker output. I'm guessing the voice coil is cooked so does anyone know if its possible to source a replacement or if there is anything I can do to repair the driver? I...

    Raspberry Pi as headless streamer

Sticking with my Pi-Curryman combination for music however I'm tempted by an i-Cubox for movies - has anyone tried XBMC on it into a processor for Dolby Digital/dts over S/PDIF? I know the Pi has issues with passthrough over anything other than HDMI,I wondered if the Cubox was the same?

    Raspberry Pi as headless streamer

The volumio alias only works if you have Bonjour running, just find the IP of the Pi - either from router DHCP table or plug the pi into a monitor and type ip -addr at the command prompt. Pop that into the address bar of your browser and you should see the Volumio page. No idea on Raspmc, it...

    Raspberry Pi as headless streamer

For anyone interested, I hooked up a RPi to a curryman DAC (ESS9023 based) over i2S and much to my delight and surprise it worked straight away with Volumio. The Pi is on a SMPS but the DAC has a seperate linear supplies for analogue and digital sections. It's giving my clock-locked Cambridge...

    300VA or 500VA Transformer

One word of warning, the larger transformer may hum more due to a small DC offset in your mains supply. I have some Hypex monoblocs built with 500VA transformers and had to add the following circuit, mains side, to reduce the hum http://sound.westhost.com/articles/xfmr-dc.htm On the plus side...

    Improving PC streaming

Whilst I don't doubt it, unless the DAC indicates it's bit perfect you can't be sure. RME assured me that there shouldn't be any issues with the WASAPI interface, however the HDCD indicator told a different story. It may not have been their drivers but something in the software stack was being...

    Improving PC streaming

The other thing that can't be overlooked is ensuring you have bit-perfect S/PDIF. I've been using RME cards for years as a way of avoiding the Windows Kmixer however I have found with WASAPI on Windows 7 I am no longer enjoying bit perfect playback. I can tell this as my DAC has a HDCD decoder...
