I implemented Darren's setup and had pretty good results. It added a smoother feel to the dac1.

Moved from the benchmark dac1 to the rme about 6 months ago. The rme is certainly smoother and more natural sounding, at times a little bit too relaxed compared to the dac1, but definitely overall better. I also love all the DSP options. It's phenomenally flexible which helped me solve a speaker...

Oh I totally see where you are coming from. In my case the flexibility was worth the faff. However, it would be vastly improved if the options could be easily manipulated via an external input, i.e. pc over usb.

Agreed, it's complicated. But it's more of a set and forget for most options.

So would you say that speaker manufacturers design their speakers to work with their specific stands, or is it just a matter of any stand will do it just needs to be heavy and grip well to the ground?

Can I just ask, when speakers are designed are the designers/engineers considering the coupling of the speaker to stands or floors etc. ?
