    Quad 606 Mk 2 - just purchased.

Just an update. Got my amp back a couple of days ago, so just over 8 weeks turnaround, better than I had hoped. As I've mentioned before not an audiophile but it sounds good enough to my old ears! Total cost was £372 including VAT which included £266 for the 909 power supply, they also replaced...

    Quad 606 Mk 2 - just purchased.

Sorry, only just spotted this. I didn't ask for all elcos to be replaced. Does it add much to the cost?

    Quad 606 Mk 2 - just purchased.

Thanks all for the replies, sorted regarding the manual thanks to Mark👍. Shipped the amp off to Quad earlier this week for service, change supply voltage to 240 volts and 909 upgrade, don’t know how long it will be, just have to be patient🙁

Thanks for both - manual and asking the question, didn’t want to ask.

    Quad 606 Mk 2 - just purchased.

Thanks both. Regarding the 220 volt issue. As I said I was planning to get it serviced by Quad. Is the change to 240volts something they would handle as a matter of course. Alternatively is it something I could do - I'm relatively OK if its something simple, but I'd prefer not to undertake...

    Quad 606 Mk 2 - just purchased.

Hi, I previously posted on another thread that I was thinking about buying a Quad 606 Mk2. I finally bit the bullet and pressed "Buy" on one on Ebay. It was located in Holland and despite the seller's excellent feedback I was slightly nervous because it was expensive firstly because of the...

    Sonos Play

Morning, just been chatting to a friend about hi fi. He says he uses a Sonos Play 5 system and I’m trying to get my head around how it works. Apparently he wirelessly connects his laptop to the Sonos Play’s using an app and hey presto he has music, BUT there doesn’t appear to be any...

Quad amps back from Quad factory service

Good news. Works for me, as I said on another post on this forum it has the added advantage of a remote control and avoids needing to constantly get up to adjust volume when my other half decides a track is too loud.😀

Quad amps back from Quad factory service

Thanks for the reply - much appreciated. Unfortunately not that much of an audiophile, I just use a Creek OBH 22 fed from a Cambridge Azur 640H music server currently feeding a Quad 405 and I’ve read for long time that the 606 mk 2 was one of the best, and as they say “ no money in shrouds”😀

Quad amps back from Quad factory service

Just came across this thread while searching about Quad 606 servicing and being in the process of buying a 606 mk 2. I'm contemplating getting the amp serviced by Quad straight away to give myself some peace of mind (and accepting that something could still go wrong when it's returned). I...

Back to Basics - upgrading kit.

All, Many thanks for taking the time to reply, and also the quality of the replies. Just to try and respond to some of the points raised. 1) Firstly just to clarify re the Cambridge Azur 640 H- I've a very big soft spot for them, I think they were ahead of their time and probably tried to do...

Back to Basics - upgrading kit.

Morning and Merry Xmas. Please have some Xmas spirit and cut me a little slack.... I'm long past collecting my pension so no doubt my hearing is not equivalent to a 20 year olds, my "hi-fi" kit consists of a Cambridge Azur 640H music server coupled to a Creek OBH 22 passive pre amp , a Quad...

Quad 405, lost one channel, need recommendations for someone to repair

Thanks all for the comments. Fortunately bit of a schoolboy error - suddenly dawned on me that I’d been messing round with the music server which fed the 405, so checked the output connections on the server - one had slightly come out. Only a few mm’s but obviously enough to stop the signal...

Quad 405, lost one channel, need recommendations for someone to repair

Morning, As per the title. I've a 405 which I've owned since new. I use it very infrequently but went to try it out this morning and I seem to have lost the right channel (I did try swapping speakers over to double check). Just looking for recommendations of someone people would recommend to...
