I believe your right, if an amp sound great at low volume, its often enough to stay at medium when playing own "max" volumeIn most normal size listening rooms and with reasonably efficient speakers that is probably all you will use …….

So you won't play more than the 3-5 watt SPL its running class A mode then ?
Can you elaborate on the differences?I was absolutely nothing like a P10
I think you already did thatWhy not come and listen for yourself rather than me pontificating and bringing all sort of ridiculous phrases out
Marvellously tooI think you already did that
The John Holmes comment made me literally LOL, you should start a hi-fi mag and use those sort of descriptionsMarvellously too
If the guys at Rega know what they're doing, you might think that anyone without money to burn is going to listen to a P10 next to a Naia so the Naia is going to have to sound 'better' in the dem room, and immediately so. It's still a lot of money but I guess it gives Rega the chance to compete with the full LP12 at a similar price point. As I said to Tenpercenter when Rega came with the NAIA I was almost certainly going to say I don’t want one I’ve got a P10
Because you are hundreds of miles away and I can't afford to buy one anyway. As a hi-fi enthusiast, I am just interested. Why not come and listen for yourself rather than me pontificating and bringing all sort of ridiculous phrases out
I must have lead a very sheltered life. I had to do a quick Google for 'John Holmes.' That's fair put me off this morning's porridge...Why not come and listen for yourself rather than me pontificating and bringing all sort of ridiculous phrases out
I would take a NAIA over any modern LP12 (and I like an LP12) - I’m saving up !!Because you are hundreds of miles away and I can't afford to buy one anyway. As a hi-fi enthusiast, I am just interested.
But thank you for your well measured and helpful insights. If I need any help in future I'll know who to ask.
I'm sure a lot of people would. I'd never spend that much on a record player but I'm curious to know how it differs from the other Rega decks sound wise. I don't like the sound of the RP10 or P10 from what I've heard so wonder if the Naia sounds radically different or just more of the same.I would take a NAIA over any modern LP12 (and I like an LP12) - I’m saving up !!
What does is matter what he thinks? ...I'm sure you'll still go on assuming -like with P8/P10- that it's really no different from that now long discontinued "RP"10 you once owned many years ago.Can you elaborate on the differences?
I’ve always fancied an SME20 but never likely to stump up for one, just an extraordinary amount of money for a format I barely use. Some serious, and unnecessary churlishness going on here.
As a P10 owner, and ex-SME20 owner, I'd love to hear one, although there is effectively zero chance I could afford it. I think MAX's comment that it sounds nothing like a P10 is intriguing.
Oddly, my reaction to having a P9 on home dem many, many years ago (as a then-LP12 owner) was that it was more emotionaly engaging somehow.
