A Kronos?
How does that compare to other turntables that you have heard?
Intrigued, simply because it has been suggested I seek out a Dohmann Helix, but the looks of the Dohmann don’t tick Mrs Cs boxes.

Yes, Kronos Sparta. It's simply the best TT I've ever heard. Just sounds 'right'.

Recent speaker swap from Larsen Model 4 to Wharfedale Linton Heritage. The little Larsen's were fantastic but could never get round physics with regards to bass. The Wharfedale's, to my ears, have all the good attributes of the Larsen's but just fill out that bottom end.

Looks like those Linton are placed very near corner boundaries.

My new tonearm is a PMAC Audio Technica 1010, fitted with MS-9 headshell. The deck is my beloved Sony TTS8000.

My main system is a Denon PMA850 amplifier (1977); Technics SH-X1000 DAC (1990) and Yamaha NS1000 speakers (1988) on Cliff Stone Foundation stands. It's likely this will never change.

Beautiful system.
Was the carpet a welcome addition?

Thank you. The carpet made a difference as it was installed with a soundproofing underlay. I recently had a dedicated consumer unit installed as part of wider building work too. I'm very happy with what is probably my final equipment, as long as it continues to work!

My FIL used to own the Technics CD player. Can’t remember whether it was a transport and a dac. He’d only had it a week when he gouged the top plate. He liked it a lot and it certainly looked the part.

It was a $10k statement piece designed to show what Technics could do. It bettered my favoured, modern £3k dac in my system.

Those early era statement DACs do so many things well, since there was a concern that digital would not be universally accepted, so serious effort was put into making them as good as possible. I think that 'no expense spared' approach is a big part of the appeal for early digital kit.

Thanks Amber I'm really pleased with the outcome using the 272 as just an analogue preamp as it has a great volume control.
Powered by the 555 really comes on song.

I'm about to order a Fraimlite shelf to house the Qutest and Node.

My OCD says swap the Qutest/Node for an ND5XS2, more seriously it would be interesting to do the head to head.

Bit of a Saturday reshuffle. Just don’t know if the amp should ho on the left (under the TT) or right. Headphones going to go on the other side, depending on what that ends up being...

When I had a similar setup, I preferred to have the amp just under the turntable as it was safer and easier to turn down the volume when changing a vinyl.
Just make sure there is at least 4 inches of free space on top of your amp as it surely needs to dissipate the heat.
