After buying a few bottles in the Waitrose wine sale, I walked into the centre of Stratford along the river. It was remarkably calm, given that it is half-term. It was looking rather lovely in autumn colours and low sun, but the Avon was still fairly high, and flowing fast. Large numbers of geese and swans had decided the bank was the best place to be.
