Favourite line from a song

More recent memorable lyrics, this time from

Bill Wells & Aidan Moffat

Marie's at work the next day and her boss is being sleazy,
she's always known he spies on her and he's always known she's easy.
So she lets him **** her during lunch, surrenders to his will,
then he ****s off to the pub and she starts fiddling the till.

The song is Glasgow Jubilee.

Some more old Waits:

"I know a place where a royal flush will never beat a pair"

"They're lining up to mad dog your tilt-a-whirl"
Don't we all remember a girl like that :)

I think that the "favourite line from a song" is lost in thread drift Hell.

Look at Manhattan, which I quoted above, where the words are split over the lines to achieve the rhymes. That's the clever part of it, and it's wasted by quoting only one line of it.

From: The Queen is dead . The Smiths.

Charles don't you ever crave to appear on the front of the daily mail dressed in your mothers bridal vale.

"Wouldn't we all love to see him front page in this" LOl

Eels - Novocaine for the Soul

'life is white, and I am black
Jesus and his lawyer, are coming back'

Tom Waits - Heartattack and Vine

'don't you know there ain't no devil, there's just God when he's drunk'

Johanna Newsome

O, morning without warning like a hole, and I watch you go.

There are some mornings when the sky looks like a road.

There are some dragons who were built to have and hold.

And some machines are dropped from great heights lovingly.

And some great bellies ache with many bumblebees. (and they sting so terribly).

From a sleazy version of The Hockey Cocky called Hockey Pokey by T.W. again

''She makes me harder than Chinese Algebra''

Even though I am not a Bob Dylan fan the line
''you don't have to be a Weatherman to know which way the wind blows''

works on so many levels

Ian Anderson:

Sitting on a park bench
Eyeing idle girls with bad intent.
Snot running down his nose
Greasy fingers smearing shabby clothes.
Aqualung my friend, don't you start away uneasy
Drying in the cold sun
Watching as the frilly panties run.
Aqualung my friend
Feeling like a dead duck
Spitting out pieces of his broken luck.
Aqualung my friend, don't you start away uneasy.

"Can't replace the fear or the thrill of the chase"

Brings back everything that we lose as we get older...

The Clash, Straight to Hell – ‘Lemme tell ya ‘bout your blood bamboo kid. It aint Coca-Cola it’s rice.

This is in reference to the U.S Government not allowing children born to Vietnamese woman father by U.S soldiers in to the U.S.

The Buzzcocks are entertaining: ‘Well, you tried it just for once found it all right for kicksBut now you found out that it's a habit that sticksAnd you're an orgasm addict, you're an orgasm addict
Sneaking in the back door with dirty magazinesNow your mother wants to know what all those stains on your jeansAnd you're an orgasm addict, you're an orgasm addict’

It ain't no use talking to me
It's just the same as talking to you.
