    Headphone Recommendations...

Yes, I managed to get the Ear Pad and inner, but had to go official on the head band pad. Looking now I notice List price is over 14 GBP! Although the HD 650 Headband Pads are cheaper at about £8. I think they fit the HD 600 - but are they any more robust? Simon

Yep, HD600 User here - great sound, but head band padding in particular is an (Expensive) joke.

    Naim CD3

Hi, Up until recently there were a few commercial people who frequent this forum that could work on these. Avondale Audio and I think Arkless Electronics (possibly also Witch hat). I should think it's worth attempting to get it back working. I am on my 2nd attempt on computer Audio using a...

    Rotel 820 amp

That's what I am saying - The Marantz had all the stereotypical short comings of CD - Hard, Glassy, Etched presentation - the Rotel did it's best to hide that. However when the Rotel was given something (much) better it let that shire through. If the Rotel had sins they were of omission...

    Naim-ish

With Craig, as above - it's the only general way of doing it and getting good results! Not Chinese, but I was a programmer... Simon

    Rotel 820 amp

Another vote for Rotel 820 BX. Used with Marantz entry level cd player (CD-50) and Diamond Mk4's. Then swapped CD for an Arcan Alpha+, system went from analytical near field monitoring system to just simply joyous music. Big lesson in system matching and source first. Simple systems can just...

Monitor Audio speakers - history websites?

Well that got me thinking, so I found a screw driver.. Here's the Tweeter on my Monitor Audio R852/MD speakers. Two main findings :- 1. Face Plate - Feels like textured metal when in place - but isn't it is a ceramic type dense plastic - so like you said "glass fibre reinforced plastic"...

Monitor Audio speakers - history websites?

That's the Standard 25 mm Metal dome that's found in the R852, R952 and Monitor 9 and 14. It was also used in the Musical Fidelity MC-4 (MK1 ), Although possibly the R852 and R952 face plates may differ in material used - Metal in the R series...Is it plastic in the Monitor series? Simon

Monitor Audio speakers - history websites?

Hello Matthew, I have seen various different versions of the Monitor 9's - with ports and without. So likely there are differences in Crossover. It would help if you could take some pictures of the Crossover and say if your speakers have ports - even a serial number might help. I cannot help...

Monitor Audio speakers - history websites?

Hello Paul, Welcome. However you appear to have just responded to a very old conversation. Try posting a Hello message in the Audio section. There are all kinds of people here with all kinds of systems although 2nd hand and Naim (older stuff) are strong topics. Regards Simon

    Sony XA 777ES CD player

NAIM CDi here - whilst I admit the upper frequencies are sometimes not as I would ideally like ( referenced against NAIM CDS2 ), the bass is superb and it has much more life about it than the CDS2. I also enjoyed the old MicroMega players I have used - but the serviceability is too poor to...
