Westminster sexual harassment scandal

Anyone wondering why women are often reluctant to come forward in cases of harassment and abuse should check out the hate campaign that the DM has started against Kate Maltby.

Psychopaths.

I see Jan Moir has been given the attack dog role by Dacre. She has an excellent track record in this capacity, particularly in turning on other women who don't comply with Mr. Dacre's "norms". Lady McGove will be trashing the victim's taste in kitchens next.

In what Kate Maltby has made public there is neither harassment nor abuse.

By leaping onto her bandwagon for political advantage you are dispersing the narrative of rape and serious sexual abuse. The fact that there is a serious underlying problem is getting lost.

(And there's no excuse for posting an image link to the Daily Mail. Ever....)

Green's actions constitute harassment. Not in the same league as rape, obviously, but part of the same picture of systematic sexual aggression against women.

Whether you agree with that or not her treatment by the Mail is exemplary of how individuals complaining about harassment are punished.

It's routine by the way for those who come forward to protest about harassment to be accused of self-promotion.

About the publicising the DM's filth I did think carefully, but the online edition just doesn't convey the same level of carefully engineered, misogynistic psychopathy.

Some good news just in. The two tax exile Barclay clones have lost their £1.2bn claim against the Inland Revenue. You'd think they've siphoned enough cash without beggaring the NHS and other public services further. It must be hard living in Monaco on £7bn. No doubt anguished sobs will be heard in their public cloaca known as the Daily Telegraph.

£1.25bn. Most of it based on interest on interest: common in the credit card rip-offs.

It's got the sense of a cup final about it;

'And yes, fantastic run by the tory MP, he seems to have run the whole way with this one! And yes it's a fantastic own goal!'

'But Labour have come straight back at them, he's been robbed, no he hasn't, he's still going, and yes he strikes and it's straight in to the back of his own net!'

'What can the tories do, they've still got 35 players on the bench, maybe more, this game could go either way!'

73 years old at time the dirty old bugger. Apparently he needed an hours warning before anything could happen

Unless there is anything illegal happening can MPs of both sides please just get on with your jobs and deal with this privately. We currently have bigger things to worry about than sacking people for making innuendo comments ....

It's claimed he also rubbed himself against her. And he's, what, 50 years her senior? If true, it's unacceptable behaviour.

Although any particular incident might appear unimportant, the bigger picture is that women working in the HoC appear to be subjected to unwanted sexual attention on a regular basis. It's been a boys' club for too long and I am delighted to see the issue being taken seriously.

So at what point do you say that people that behave like this shouldn't be representing us? It's not like they are making such a great job of the 'bigger things' anyway.

The problem woth a lot of this is real sexual assault, sexual harassment or bullying is getting blurred with certain sexual or relationship preferences etc between consenting adults. The former needs dealing with to the full extent of the law, the latter is only an issue if the party in question displays rank hypocrisy (e.g. John Major’s sanctimonious ‘family values’ bullshit whilst having affair with Edwina Curry) or attempts to do it whilst on the clock/public expenses (Liam Fox Adam Werrity etc). Other than that I have no interest in affairs, sexual kinks etc, that is their private time and none of our business. The leaked Tory list very much blurs this line, but that needs to be viewed as how the party chooses to blackmail/control its MPs, i.e. the contents of the list isn’t the interesting thing here, it is how the party itself behaves.
