Zoom, Skype or what?

Tried not to mention it. Had a feeling that some old bloke gibbering on about porn might not be a good look.

Had a meeting ( work -social ) on Teams tonight. Only the 4 most recent talkers appeared on screen and the initials of other participants shown below. Is there a way of having more than 4 images on screen for Teams? ( I've googled but to no avail )

Nope - it is what it is...

I use mixture of Teams, Skype and Zoom for meetings. Just getting hang of Teams.

Google's resistance to Zoom is based mainly on the failiure of their own Google Meet offering to so far make any market impact, and also their own staff preferences to use Zoom over said in-house product.

on a related note, it's fascinating to see how often people get the angle of the webcam not quite right, esp. when appearing on TV etc now - often you have to lift the laptop base up a little to get it (you) looking right vs a "chin/nose" shot.

Also external mics/speakers make a ton of difference to the audio (both to presenter and also viewer).

The built in camera in my Dell work laptop is to the bottom left of the screen. Silly position to put it. The MacBooks cameras are at the top of the screen, so at least it looks like you are 'looking' at the person in question.

....use pc on stand with camera at your eye level, and background set to auto blur.

Yes, the Dell placement is strange - they have finally corrected that in the very latest variants. Even with the webcam at the top of the screen, people often tilt it so you get a view of the wall/roof looking up at an angle vs. a straight on shot people are more used to....

Apparently webcams are in very short supply at present!

I used Google Hangouts recently and it was passable. Requires no login and registration

I think they are all much of a muchness. If security is one's thing, then I'd say that Msft are most secure with Teams then the Skype products. It will be intersting to see what they do with Skype as a product line, as Teams builds its position in the market.

We use Teams mostly (for security reasons) and Zoom when we want lots of people on screen. So the correct answer is both!

We are sticking to WhatsApp for our Jihadi plots :)
